Weird things happen when you have a bad ground. Check the wiring in the back of your cd player and make sure the ground is very solid and is touching bare metal, no paint or anything. If you have an external amp, do the same for that ground. Also, make sure that if you have RCA wires coming from your cd player that they are secure and not touching anything else.

it could be alternator noise. Make sure your audio wires arn't running parrallel with the power wires, but this is a bigger problem if you have an external amp powering the speakers.

there could be an auto-volume function on the cd player, too :dunno: I'm not too familiar with that model pioneer HU, but I do know that pioneer loves to throw gimicks into their products. If you don't have an external amp, look into one. HU's don't produce enough power to make your interior speakers sound their optimum. however, pioneer isn't exactly the greatest manufacture out there, either.

The volume goes up when you speed up and gets lower as you slow down? There is a thing on newer Pioneer decks that automatically adjusts the volume based on road noise, its called ASL. Not sure how to turn it off on your deck though.

Mind you, I could be totally wrong about what I think the problem is.

My brother has the same CD player in his car, and it too lowers itself when you slow down....As you resume higher speeds it goes up again.Based on this information, it seems to be proper operation of the radio. This feature is nice for sudden stops lol.
