Default Install Amp, Car Dead!

Okay I installed an amp and couldn't get the sub to work and suddenly the car won't start. I can still get the stereo to work and get the car to crank, but it won't start. I checked all the fuses already and still nothing. Could it be the relays under the hood? Alternator? starter? short circuit? weak battery? Let me know!

Give the forum more info. What car? Year?
What did you tap into to get power to the amp? That's the likely cause. Check all power/ground connections you made. You may need to retrace your steps and undo any changes you've made (i.e. disconnect the amp and wiring to see if car starts)

If it cranks but is not starting, then the starter and battery are o.k. I think you have something wrong in the ignition system wiring.

also, you might want to check your battery terminal. if you took this off during the installation, check to make sure its on the battery post tight. if its loose, then it would cause the car not to get adaquet power, and inturn cause is not to start.

Hey u know what? I think it could be the ground for the fuel. I have a 99 Honda Accord and that fuel needle on the speedometer never go to empty when I shut off the engine. The screw I loosen was in the trunk, right behind the rear seat. I had the engine going because it was cold out and after I loosen that screw the engine just went dead. I hope that is the problem. I'll find out tomorrow.

The needle doesnt have to goto empty, i have a civic, and it will stay right where it is when i turn the car off. But you loosening that screw and the engine died, if that was a ground, you will probally need to tighten that back up to get the car started, since it sounds like you disconnected the fuel pump.

it was the fuel ground screw. I knew that needle was acting weird. it should stay when I turn off the engine instead it tried to go lower. I also have a 99 Odyssey and the needle goes down whenever I shut off the engine. Totally different vehicle. I even change the relays from the Ody to the Accord. Glad that's over w/ and THANKS for all your help!
