Go with Alpine for a HU! You should probably save more money,, Alwayz can just buy a amp and sub and work your way up slowly to chaning everything completly.

www.edesignaudio.com < great SQ subs w/ massive SPL. I used to have a set of the 12k's and I hit 144.0DDB (sealed) w/ a JL 1000/0. I would definately recommend.

thats true, I didn't get the absolute best base setup available, something that i could turn up when i wanted to, and didn't drain my bank account, and one for my every day drivin (2 alpine type R 12's in a sealed box powered by rockford 851s) and that cost me over 1000 after it was said and done and i got some good deals too, for a good setup expect to spend in the neighborhood of 1500-2000...don't get subs if you plan on stickin to 850, you'll only be dissapointed.

Not necesarily true, if this guy is installing it all himself he can get a pretty adequate system for $800... I built mine from the ground up... 250 for top of the line pioneer deck... $120 for nice clarion components up front... 100 for 5'1/4's in the back.... 175 for a 600 watt kenwood amp for the subs, and 200 for two rockford HE2 tens... I built the box myself (saved 100) and bought all the wiring kits and etc from different suppliers online... all in all install costs were under $75 and thats only because i bought top of the line wiring ( Why do it half a-- the first time and have to COM do it all over again later on, do it right the first time and when you upgrade components you wont have to rewire.) Install costs are really what kill you... If you have a nice ride get to know the owner at a small car audio shop, if its nice enough they might say "hey if you throw our sticker on there we will install it all for free and give you a nice deal" i have had a friend who had that done with his truck he has only $1200 in his system and he's winning SPL comps. If you want it bad enough you can get it... CHECK thezeb.com for crazy deals on car audio check the specials section, its crazy stuff. If I can be of any more help let me know!

you can get an incredible system for $800 if its not from crutchfield!

ok i have a BOSS 200w head unit with one Type R 12" in a home-made ported box powered by a fusion fp-1402 amp, and fusion 6" in the front. i made the box and did the wiring myself.

i spent

$140 <-----sub
$300 <-----amp
$45 <-----4 gauge wiring kit w/remote wire and RCAs
$100 <-----head unit
$60 <-----front speakers.
--------
$645.00 <-----total

you could get another 12" and it would still be under 800.

if you just want to bump you can afford to leave all the speakers stock....just turn the treble down when you do....i have a friend with two memphis HPO 12"s that registers a 140-ish dB and he didnt spend more than 1k. It can be done, u just gotta look around

but who would want to listen to that driving in their car? sure, 140 isnt too shabby in a drag contest, but when im driving...i want to listen to good music, that means sounds coming from ALL frequencies. but i guess if all you care about is bass, then yea that setup would be fine.
