Default Quick Sub wiring question

I've got 2 old school MTX 2000 12" subs that I'm running with a 300W Jensen amp. I know this isn't going to be the hardest hitting system, since the subs can handle about 5 times what the amp puts out. But I just want to make sure it's safe to only run 8 ga power and ground wires? I figured it would be ok since it's not putting out alot of power.

One more question, will this set-up sound ok? I hope the Jensen has enough power to make the subs sound ok, I'm not sure though. I can't give you anymore info on the MTX's since I got them off Ebay for $30.

Any suggestions or anything would be appriciated!

8 ga would be fine for that one amp, but if you plan on upgrading any time soon, save yourself the trouble and run 4 ga now...

I would if I had any money I haven't gone through alot of trouble to set this system up, so when I upgrade in the future it won't be a big deal. I have some 4 ga wiring, but not enough to make it from the battery to the amp, it'd only make it about half way. I also ran the power wire under the car(don't worry, it's secure and away from any heat or moving parts) so if it did get hot it won't hurt anything.

I'll find out in a couple hours if it all sounds ok

I'd go on the safe side and use 4 gauge. Plus, it's worth the little bit of additional $$ now to save you trouble and time later if you do upgrade.
