Default System progress - UPDATED!!

I don't know if anyone really cares, but I finally gutted the Civic, and the install has begun - no false starts - I'm committed now with a totally new setup.

Alpine 7840 (temp) to a Alpine H700 for all digital processing. Then the following:

PPI A100 --> ID CD1pro mini horns
PPI A200 --> ID CX52 midranges in IB kicks
PPI A300 --> ID IDQ62 midbasses IB in doors
PPI A600 --> ID IDMAX d2 v2 IB in trunk

That's the current plan. I had originally planned (and I do have) a pair of CX62's and IDQ8DVC's, but I don't have the time to go that big right now, so the IDQ62's will have to do.

So here's some pics

Here's a few wires up the center of the car - Toslink optical cable, Stinger Expert RCA, Alpine Ai-Net and the Connector cable for the faceplate on the H700. I added the extra wire so that I could use ANY headunit with the H700 - No extra wiring needed.

Notice that all cables have been tied every 8" or less. Here's the 0/1 ga, the wiring for the headunit, and the three runs of 12 ga for the front stage on the pass side. I rewired the doors for 12ga as well - huge pain in the ass! Also note the two layers of Raammat60 on the floor.

Two (and three in some places) layers of matt with a 1/4" layer of closed cell foam on top - getting the sill plates back in was a CHORE...

That's all the photos I have right now. There is three layers of matt on the door skins now, and a total of three cans of stinger road kill spray on the metal door panels. I'm still debating the 8"s, but I don't think it will happen.

There's also a layer of deadening on the roof, and layers of 1/8" foam between all plastic panels (including headliner) and the car's body. Should be no rattles in this car. The only part of the car that I have not deadened (yet) is the trunk.

Tomorrow I'm hoping to finish deadening and sealing the doors, and adding the midbasses to the doors. Hopefully, I'll start the glass by Sunday.

I have until Jan 4 to finish, so I'm sure it will be a mad dash to the finish. I'll keep adding photos if people are interested to update the progress.

Thanks for the compliment - it's been a long time coming, and LOTS of planning - I'm actually sitting in my room tring to figure out how to make those damn 8's work!! I hope it sounds good when it's done

and i want your amps so bad
They are probably the best bang for the buck out there right now - I actually own 8 of them I have three black ones (sweet looking) and 5 white ones.

how did you find those?
I bought most of them on Ebay - you just have to pick and choose. There's a near mint/mint Ax606.2 on the bay right now. If I was going to choose an amp to run my whole system that would absolutely be the one that I would choose. One of the best amps out there. These really are some of the best amps that are out there - and when you look at the price, they are tough to beat - it's finding them in good condition that is difficult!!

I know jessie on elite runs those amps and likes them but his sub amp decided to quit on him. Ive been thinking of uping the power in my car esp to the subs and those were some of the amps ive been eyeing. Are you planning to keep the dead pedal with the kicks?

Funny you mention it, all of my stinger gear came from Jesse. Unfortunately, I have bought all of them used, so I have no clue if they all work b/c I have not been able to test them...good thing I have backups!

I hadn't planned on cutting the car significantly to get the kicks, so I think that the dead pedal is a gonner.
