Metalic Tint Messes Up Navigation System

I remember someone else having a similar problem on another board. I think they relocate the gps antenna to the sunroof or front of the car, dont remember exactly where.

I don't have the OEM nav system, but I do have a Garmin GPSIII+, and will agree that the tint is probably blocking or diminishing your signal. My antenna is at the right front windshield. I originally mounted it on the rear speaker shelf and, like you, received a poor signal.

shouldn't matter, the tint is on the inside on the window and the GPS reciever stick to the the inside. So unless they took off your reciever and tinted over it... The tint won't mess it up.

However, the tint shop could have cut a wire or got water in something.

I don't think the gps antena is on the windshield like the radio antenas are along side the defrosters. I would think its a single unit tucked away somewhere. The metalic tint is like a shield!

Update...

I had the tint shop remove the metallic tint and installed the non-metallic tint. Everything works fine now. The only minor imperfection is that the shade of the non-metallic tint is a little lighter. But I can live with that.
