racing with automatic trans
i got a 95 accord 2 dr with a automatic trans. i regret getting the automatic trans. when racing should i use other gears like 1, 2, or d3. i have been just using d4, but i want to know if it would make my car faster to use the lower gears?
some say using just d3. I would suggest brake torqueing in the launch then shifting, starting at 1 and up,2,d3,d4. Cause by shifting, the gear can go to redline. Not recommended to do all the time, but see if it helps you out.

you shouldnt be "racing" at all. learn how to drive first please. and save any other ignorant activites you must participate in, for the track.
well, when you drive your car for a while, you start feeling every little thing, and most importantly, how much pressure you should apply to the gas pedal, so that the speed doesn't switch to the next one (until redline of course). If you floor it while in Drive, and won't let go of the pedal, it should go up to the red line without switching to 2nd, then switch to 2nd, etc, so there's really no point in doing anything manually (1-2-3-D). Just leave it in Drive and pray that you have 6 cylinders (not sure if 95 comes with 6).
What they mean by power breaking is you hold the break while pressing the accelerator, and then let go of the break, pretty straightforward. Kinda similar to switching from Neutral to Drive while revving, but it doesn't **** up your tranny as much (but it does breaks :/). And seriously, please please learn how to drive first, oftentimes races can get into traffic and that's where u'll have to handle the car well.
Good luck.

When I raced at the track I went from 1,2,D3. Actully D3 for me at least shifts at 5900. and I can shift at 6500-6600 by myself. Brake-gas really does help your times. I held it tell 2k and ran 16.6 consistantly and tryed to do 1500 and random numbers like that and ran high 16's. I think 1,2,d3 is quicker but you have to shift in quick and dont take your time. every one-hundredth of a second counts!
Also, if you are say racing at a low speed, depends on speed. But if say you have enough room to put it in 1st at around 4k let it rip and you will feel it a lot better then flooring it in D3 and having the deley of it downshifting automatically. Drive safe and learn to drive first.

a friend of mine try to do all that in his father automatic ford and the trans broke like the second day of racing. i have been doing it with mine works good especially D1 local street hehe i use D3 - D4 n highway, i'm still shock and happy that i can get my accord to 130mph i wonder if it can go more since it felt like if it could.

. But I recomend you use d3 regulary until about 50 mph when you can hear it needs to shift put it in d4. D3 last tell about 90 or atleast I got it up to it but will only go past 50 if you really get on it.
