im not clear on what you're referring to when you say "slipping tranny" but when your clutch is slipping, the clutch doesnt grip and the rpms continue to increase during acceleration, yet the car is not going any faster. Sort of like revving in neutral but with a little more restriction.

Slipping in the tranny can only occur in an automatic. If you are experiencing slipping in a manual, then it's the clutch.

that's what happens when you auto tranny is slipping not your clutch.

Slipping would be pressing on the gas, engine racing high, and car moving slower than usual.

the clutch slipping usually only occurs when your at high rpms and the clutch cant hold the flywheel. the friction points on the clucth disc get worn out and there is really no friction. the engine will continue to rev, and the car might even slow down due to the drop of power. then it might catch all of a sudden and the rpms will drop bback to normal.. that is when the Clutch on a Manual trani is slipping. much the same FEELING occcurs when an auto trani slips, you'll see the rpms rise and realise that the car isnt going any faster, and then they might drop and you might feel a little jolt as they resume normal function.
neither is good, and both are a bitch to fix. good luck

auto slipping tranny feels like your car just won't shift into gear. when it finally does shift into gear, way past the usual RPM, sometimes it'll not downshift properly or just fall out of gear.

ive never been in an auto with a slipping tranny, but slipping clutches on a manual feel exactly how i described. Several others basically repeated what i said. It seems like we're coming to an agreement here.

Ok, i was thinking it was my clutch anyways, since two people have learned to drive stick in my car i think its time for a new one

Anyone have anything good or bad to say about ACT street clutches?

not the multi-padded ones, the ones that are like stock, but are made from organic stuff, and have a higher pressure pressure plate....

Thanks everyone for all the replys
