What does a 'slipping transmition' feel like?

are you talking with the clutch depressed or disengaged it does this?? under normal acceleration with the clutch disengaged it can't be the clutch since it's not grabbing anything.

Exactly. Since the clutch is not grabbing anything, it spins freely and the revs increase, while the car does not accelerate any faster. Some miscommunication along the way.
