Battery Exploded
i recently got into an accident and my battery got hit.. acid was everywhere in the engine bay. I didnt think it was going to cause much damage so I left it be. I got my car back from the shop a month later and
engine bay looks like crap. Everything is corroded and rust looking crap all over.
Im starting the process of repainting various parts in my engine bay ... ie. heat shield, radiator brackets, intake tubing, etc

the acid is edible after drying it in the sun. try sprinkling some of it on your muffins or cereal in the morning. it makes for a nutritious and tasty snack.
seriously, don't touch it. even after is dries it'll still eat right through your t-shirt and probably burn your skin.

Major props also for that CLASSIC SteVTEC quote! Dude, did that idiot actually say that?? If so, I'm not the least bit surprised, as he seems to be exactly the type of moron to make that kind of stupid statement. Well, keep rollin' that sweet 03 Coupe, bro...I'm out!
Here is my update. The dealer towed my car, cleaned up the mess, reinstalled a brand new battery (still Honda brand). My car is as good as new.
I checked the some web sites, the explosion could happen if
1. low fluid + sparkle
2. during jumping
3. loose cable
I appreciated the baking soda tip you gave. I will respect the battery in totally different way from now.

Battery acid isn't really all that bad for you. I used to be a technician for GNB Technologies (DC power) and if we forgot to bring our pH meters, we would dip in our pinkies and taste it for acidity. I'm fine, I think. The acid isn't as bad as you think, however an exploding battery is some serious shit. The acid when it explodes mixes with the gases and that makes some nasty stuff, trust me from experience, don't get that gas in your eyes. You should check your battery for fluid levels, if it isn't maintenance free, or for positive plate growth if it is. Just put a flat edge across the top of the battery and if it is higher on the positive side, it'll go soon.
if parts of the engine bay are rusted, does this means it eats through paint? If so...you need to sand down those areas and paint them ASAP! You dont want weak parts in your engine bay!
