what did you use to lube it up?

did you just get a new bolt, or did you get that bushing also (parts 26 and 27 in the prelude shifter assembly diagram, hondaautomotiveparts.com). i ordered a bushing but the dealer told me that the bolt won't be available until sometime after mid-august. BULLSHIT. is there anyone that can find one earlier that wouldn't mind picking one up for me? otherwise i gotta search the junk yards

Honestly I don't even think you need part 26. You'll be just fine finding the same size bolt at a hardware store. Find one that fits the nut that holds your old shifter in place and you're set (get one about 1.5-2 inches long). There's nothing really special about part 26, it's just a bolt with some hook on it but the hook is useless, I didn't need it for anything it's just sitting there.

Actually i did try just some bolt from the hardware store and i have to say it was totally SHITTY compared to the real part 26 bolt. The authentic honda part fits much cleaner and gives a much more crisper shift IMO.

Well if you really want just call around different dealers. They should be able to special order it for you. And it should only take a week max. Or you can order it on the website: here tho shippings kinda high...

haha, actually, what i did was get a longer 6 mm bolt that didnt have a thread on it at the bottom, i cut it to the size i needed and threaded it to fit the honda nut, it slid perfectly into the collar and i used standard mechanics white lube to make it nice and smooth, i had my custom bolt, the collar, and the honda nut and everything is nice and smooth. . .

good luck guys

i tried. they don't stock them regularly, so they have to special order anyway (this is what this guy told me anyway). but he checked the honda warehouse inventory database and it said that honda was not going to release any more until mid-august. an urgent order might be able to get one in SEVERAL weeks.. and i don't want to wait that long

majestic honda is back-ordered too

just my luck, there are absolutely no junk yards even remotely near by that have that part. apparently none of them have a manual transmission prelude - in fact, i didn't even get that far when i was asking them. none of them even have 92-96 preludes! most of them are non-english speaking asswipes, too. :madfawk: i did find one place that *might* have them. but they only sell the entire transmission, and i guess everything that relates to the transmission... won't sell me a lousy ****ing bolt.

looks like i gotta urgent order from honda... dammit... in the meanwhile i'll probably improvise with a bolt/nut from a hardware store. but dammit
