Default installed forbidden shifter today

ok, so i was waiting for parts to come so i could do this thing

i got the parts from honda that were suggested for the 5th gen no problem. it came to like 8 bucks or something. One thing i didnt get was a prelude base plate. Honda wants 50 bucks for it and even the forum hookups couldnt do better than 35. I figured the accord plate would do just as well as most people have been using it the whole time.

Note: if anyone installs a prelude plate and thinks that its significantly smoother shifting, let us all know.

Installation was cake, a 10 mm wrench and a ratchet with 10mm and 12mm sockets are all that is required aside from a phillips head.

When i finished putting it in, i set it up for the middle setting. It seemed difficult to force the cable to the top setting so i just said screw it and set it up on the middle one, i may change it later.

I lubricated all of the linkage and the collar on the lever connector and put the console back. Incidentally, I installed at the same time a Civic Type R shift boot (genuine JDM Honda part) and a new gunmetal shift knob with red numbering. All in all, it looks pretty damn sweet aside from the fact that theres nothing else red in my interior right now (Red/Black carbon fiber kit planned eventually).

Anyways, on to the test drive. Its definitely an improvement from stock. It doesnt need to be forced at all like my old short shift adapter did. Shifts are smooth and precise and I can definitely shift faster now. As for the price tag, even on the group buy, im not sure these were worth 106 shipped. I'm not sure what it costs 4bidden to fabricate these but i dont think its 70 or 80 dollars a piece if you were to buy them in volume so I imagine he made some ridiculous money on all this.

That being said, I still think it was money well spent and I'm very happy with the product so if theres ever another group buy and you dont have one of these, get one.

Here's a pic of my 4bidden short shifter. I must agree, the shifter shifts just as smooth if not smoother than stock and the throws are MUCH MUCH shorter. I too had a short shifter adapter and it's crap compared to this. The adapter made my shifts notchy. The 4bidden short shifter is a worthwhile investment for any 4g or 5g Accord owner.

Here it is on mine, (purchased before group buy) Originally had it on the middle setting but just recently set it on lowest position and it shifts even smoother than the middle position.

How are the shift throws on the lowest setting? Cuz my shifts are pretty smooth as is on the middle setting. Are the throws still short on the lowest setting?

Yeah the throws are still short on the lowest setting. I just tried it to see how it was and its a very minimal difference in the throw if any compared to the middle setting. I just thought it felt a little notchy on the middle and I think it feels better on the lower setting.
