Need Help Identify Part
Hello Everyone,
'91 Accord SE with rattling noise coming from this particular part on the front end which I need to identify so I can replace it myself to save some greens. The part in question is located right underneath the engine coolant reservoir .:dunno: ..some sort of pump with two hoses connected to it. Tried following the hoses but due to the tight engine compartment and the twist and turn I tend to lose track below the air filter housing. The noise only occurs when I’m engaged on drive, not on reverse or idling (park) and becoming more frequent. What’s involved in replacing this particular part?:nervous: I appreciate any input…thanks.

Thanks for the reply. It's inside the part itself that's causing the rattling noise, nothing loose or anything like that. Similar to the sound created by a playing card on a bicycle wheel spokes but gets louder as it goes, getting to be embarassing and annoying at times. The Haynes manual doesn't cover this particular part. The local Honda dealership wants to charge me just to look at it...I think they're trying to rip me off.:upset:
I'll try to borrow a friend's digital camera to take pics and I'll post it then.

Now this is funny Sick Honda,, your dealer is trying to rip you for trying to fix your car?? Tell me something,, do you work for free?? Does your Boss man,, expect you to show up for work and tell you,, dont punch in yet,, I want you to work for the next 30 to 45 min off the clock,, then punch in,, What would you say??? I bet its,,' No way",, but , you see,, thats what you are asking the dealer to do?? Your asking them to take a mechanic off the clock, look at your car, find out the problem, go to the parts counter, get him to work for free and look up the parts, go to the service advisor, ask him to punch off the clock, and look up labor times and THEN if you decide to get the work done, you want a guarntee..As a flat rate mechanic, meaning, I get paid to look at cars and repair them,, the shop dont charge you,, I dont get paid along with everyone else,, I know what your problem is with your car,, Guess what,, since you think Im gonna rip you off, Geeeze guys like you really piss me off,, you expect me to take time out of my life to serve you for free after all the hours I put myself into training and the thousands of dollars I have to spend on tools every year, out of my own pocket, just for you to think My dealer is ripping you off by charging you money to correct a problem with your car??Im not gonna tell ya

Yo, hold on a sec here, Lager. :screwy:
I don't know what I said wrong that offended you. If you're not happy with the work you do, or the money you spent for tools, don't take it out on me. I was merely trying to find some assistance on identifying parts and certainly not looking for personal attack. You don’t even know the whole story and you’re already yapping your mouth like a BITCH.
I went to the nearest local Honda dealer in my area to buy this part but the “parts counter person” doesn’t have an idea what I’m talking about. Remember, “P-A-R-T-S C-O-U-N-T-E-R P-E-R-S-O-N”…NOT a “M-E-C-H-A-N-I-C”(slow enough for you?) If your so smart and a true mechanic, you should be familiar that no one is allowed in the WORK AREA of the shop for any reason due to safety and insurance concern…meaning (just to help you out…since your slow  ) I can’t even get close to a mechanic to discuss my issue, or in your case, waste their time for free advice. The “parts counter person”, again, "parts counter person" suggested, initially, that I should bring my car to see the part in question. I did exactly that, but when I got there he refused to leave his counter to take a look at it, he claimed he was too busy (while turning pages on his car magazine...and I was the only one there at that time) and suggested instead that I should just have my car service by their mechanic...now tell me if that’s not a rip off. Next time, before you run your mouth like that again, ask first so you don’t sound stupid at the end. :nono: :madfawk:
My intention was to save money on repair because I’m currently separated from the work force. I can assure you that if I have money for repair I would, to make things easy. I’m mechanically incline and have all the time in the world to mess around with my car, so right now that’s the least expensive option for me.
If you have no intention to help in the first place…get off this forum. Last time I checked, the forum’s purpose is to exchange ideas and for assisting others…not for attacks. Even if you know the part…keep it to yourself and die with it :gives: …I couldn’t care less. I’m seeking assistance from someone really knowledgeable anyway…someone with a brain…not all mouth. :blah:
