17" monitor???

dude...they make lcd's that are meant for cars...that will never work and even if it did...it would get damaged very badly very quickly...monitors that big are meant to remain on a flat, stationary platform.

cops and many people use laptops in their cars while driving...

dude, I say go for it. I thought about this too alot....I mean screw in-dash dvd player...when you could have dvd/cd/mp3(PLAYLISTS,PLAYLISTS,PLAYLISTs)/emulators(gen,snes,arcade,you name it),avi's(movies, not dvd), **** hook it up to your car and tune your ride with it F&F style!!!

it would be seriously bad-ass to just have a anti-shock pc dvd-rom(maybe even a burner) in your dash and a big ass monitor...wouldn't matter what disc you put it there, it would read it...and mount a touch-pad somewhere to work the mouse...make a custom fast-boot operating system too. that would rock

..oh yeah, wireless internet when you are in your driveway so you could transfer new shit you downloaded right to your ride.

if you wanted to use it like a regular tv I'd guess you'd have to have a VGA adapteror something.

My friend hooked up a desktop pc in his car before but it didn't last. Too much vibration and movement caused it to crash. You would want to use something very durable. The ones cops use are specifically designed to withold lots of abuse. They are called Toughbook's and are made by Panasonic. We had them at my old job, that thing weighed a ton but is supposed to withstand a drop from 13 stories.
