My friend hooked up a desktop pc in his car before but it didn't last. Too much vibration and movement caused it to crash. You would want to use something very durable. The ones cops use are specifically designed to withold lots of abuse. They are called Toughbook's and are made by Panasonic. We had them at my old job, that thing weighed a ton but is supposed to withstand a drop from 13 stories.
