Default Best way to fix a dent?

I was dusting my car the other day and noticed a dent on my rear bumper. It's up and down on the upper curved part of the bumper about 1 inch long and varies from 0.1 to 0.2 inch wide. And the paint is still intact and shiny. My guess was some bastard hit it with a shopping cart or something... I might also add that it's about .1 inch deep...

Anyways, what's the best way to fix it short of going for a complete repaint?

take the bumper out, heat it, then pop it back.
I saw ppl did it. It doesn't look perfect, but not so bad.
then again it might be too much trouble for just a 1"X0.2" dent.

if it's on a plastic portion of the car, just pop it from the back ... if it's a pretty pissy dent that won't pop, you might have to heat it for a bit

Will heating it up with a cig lighter flame be enough? I just took the bumper off earlier before I post this thread and the plastic (or rubber?) is pretty thick... I mean you can't see where it is dented from the inside the bumper... I also notice that the body shop that did the the repair on the bent bumper a few years back from someone rear ending me didn't put some screws back; the bottom four screws of the rear bumper to be exact. Don't really need it, but it still pisses me off...

no no no .. don't use an open flame on plastic ... that shait will burn a hole right through the bumper. if you have a heat gun, just pass it over the dent for a min or two to get the area warm enough to push. (not too hot, or you'll just end up poking your finger through.)

Hmmm... Don't have a heat gun... And I don't suppose a soldering iron would work...

Is it ok to just full the dent up with touch up paint, smooth (maybe fine sand) up the area, wash, clay than apply some quality wax???

Definitely get a heat gun. I think the one I got was less than 20$. If you don't get one now, you'll probably need one later on anyway.
