How do I adjust the idle and throttle on my 1994 Accord? The Haynes manual I have isnt helping at all. The pictures they show dont even look like mine.

yes, there is a big flat head screw when you are facing the drivers side, from the pass. side. But before you adjust the screw, u need to unplug the IAC plug, which is very dark to see, and is reacheable from the drivers side, behind the intake manifold.

I found that the flat head screw is very shallow, creating it difficult to adjust, and the car shakes so bad after you pull the plug, thats its hard to tell how to put the screw driver in.

i gave up. it idles fine.

then ur car idles too low, u pulled wrong plug, or something. because the idle should drop really low, but not turn the car off.

Yeah I wanted to change the idle speed on my car too cause it idles at like 600 RPMs or less, which is a little low, but if it's that much of a pain in the ass I won't even bother. I mean as long as the car isn't stalling, is there really any other reason to have a higher idle speed?

well generally, if the car is idling too low, you will be experiencing more vibrations at idlem and shaking... but if your not experiencing that or it doesnt bother you... it should be fine.

I had problems too. I disconnected the valve, started the car and turned the screw, however nothing changed when i plugged it back in and started it back up.

Is urs a 4cyl? If so, you are supposed to remove the "back up" fuse in the under hood fuse box for like 5 minutes or something like that, it's 5 min or less, I forget.

Anyways, I went out to do it, couldn't cause the intake manifold was pretty hot still so I couldn't get the IAC plug undone and also, I don't know if Honda did this, but the screw that you turn to adjust the idle had a coating over it kinda like loctite to keep the screw from backing out. And that damn thing is hella shallow too like someone already mentioned so I wasn't even gonna mess with it especially w/that coating on it, I'd end up fawking it all uph: Oh well, im just gonna think of the shaking/vibrating feeling Im getting as Honda's built in massager
