Default Cutting My Springs !

What are the thoughts on cutting springs... I really dont care if I mess up the springs, because I was gonna get Ground-Controls anyways...

I have the eibach prokits on my 2003 accord now, and there is a one finger gap in back, which is cool for me... but there is a 3 1/2 finger gap in front .... WTF??

So... what's the worst that could happen if I cut the springs??

I wouldn't recomend it, but the worst thing is that it won't ride very good. As long as you cut them so that they are stable in the spring perches. But these days, springs are so cheap...not worth cutting, it's the kinda the "ghetto" thing to do.

If you want the GC, just get them and don't waste your time cutting the eibachs.

About having more wheel gap up front...there's usually a bit more gap up front on every car so the tire has more clearance when turning. That's why a lot of people use GC or other adjustable setups so they can even out the gap.

Personally, I have koni shocks with lower perches, and just used one lower perch up front to even out the gap a bit.

And welcome to the board.

Thanks for the warm welcome...

I knew it was ghetto, but it's not even the $$ aspect of it, it's just that I want a more evened out look.

What do you guys think about h&r sport springs? They make a set that would drop my car 1.5 in front, and 1.3 in rear? are h&r's good... i heard the ride was a bit bumpy

I have H&R springs with KYB gas shocks on my 96 accord. And so far it has been the best out of stock, progress springs only, air suspension, and what I have now. They arnt that bumpy. All my others were more bumpy. I recomend them.

But also how long have you had the springs? maybe they are not settled in yet? :dunno:

The problem with cutting your springs is that you'll hit the bump stops and bottom out a lot. While the spring is shorter and you lower your ride height, they're not stiff enough to prevent bottoming.

Just fork over the cash for a quality set of springs.

Welcome to the board by the way.

I found this place by my house that sells the H&R springs for $150.00, which sounds cheap to me, since the list price on the website is $279.00

I think I might go with those, but for the time being I'm gonna have to use my stock shocks since the dont make any aftermarket ones for my car yet.\

I've had the springs on for about a month now, if they arent settled by now, they never will be

You flying down the freeway hit a bump on the road and your car goes bouncing up and you lose control of your car and you hit a tree, oncoming traffic, another car, or you flip, or you hit the center divider and your car gets ripped apart and your air bags deploy and you kill all your passenger and yourself as well as whatever you hit.

So yes that is the worst that can happen if you cut your springs.

I don't know, I think there could be worse.

I have the H&R sports and would recommend them. They are a bit more firm than stock, and eibach from what I hear, but I like it. It's a sporty ride, but non uncivilized by any means.

This is what my wheel gap looked like with just the H&R sports and stock shocks:

(and I when I bought them the gap was advertised as 1.75Front, 1.5Rear)

Since then I've lowered the front just .25" more.
