I have a 2003 Satin Silver DX 5-speed. I've had it for 2 /12 months, have 2400 miles on it, get 32 mpg just driving around town - and I love it!!
It's true, almost everyone has an EX, I don't see any other DXs and not too many LXs- but, as far as it being a waste of money, I only paid $12,988 and for that I am driving a brand new Accord! True, it doesn't have many of the extras, but it's prewired for most of them, so I can add what I want to as I can afford to and don't have to pay for anything I don't want. (I did have them add in the factory air, for an additional $1400.)
(Have to admit, though - if money was no object, I would be driving a graphite pearl EXL. )

Why would you waste 13,000 on a base, base, base model accord??? you probably could have gotten something like :
'93 RX-7 twin turbo
or a '94 300ZX twin turbo...
now you gotta spend mad cash to get the same options my '96 accord lx coupe has... I only paid $6,000 for mine  (first car, I'd have a 93 300zx TT if i could pay the insurance)

By the way, I'm in a different place from most of you . . . I did drive an RX-7 for a long time before I got married - it was a great, great car that I really loved, and I was really into it . . . but now I have two kids, and something like that just wouldn't fit in my life. The Accord is a perfect compromise for me between a sports car and a minivan (yes, my other car is a minivan, I have to admit. An Accord feels like driving a sports car compared to a minivan.)
And, I think most of us who have posted on this thread probably DO like the 7th gen Accord, or we wouldn't have bought one!
I agree the 6th generation was a beautiful design but, it was 5 years old. It was imperative that Honda make this change. Maybe in a few generations they'll do some retrostyling. I had a 6th generation and loved it but, my 03 is a very pretty car as well.
His point was that with the same money you could have gotten something better, even though older.
There are two kinds of logic in the world of buying cars. Some people would rather get the BEST thing they can get for their money...even if used. Other people want to get the BEST NEW car for their money. Neither is right or wrong. And both are needed to keep new car dealers AND used car dealers in business.
Remember that no matter what....when u get a used car u inherit someone else's problems. Be it none or 2,000 you just dont know for sure.
So, congrats Draka on your purchase it is clear you are happy with it.
Congrats drmmerboy on your purchase, it is clear you are happy with yours.
Was that so hard?

no i just got my 96 lx coupe 3 months ago. It has (stock) some of the stuff you said you had to add: power windows, power door locks, AC, 4 speaker system (changed mine though). i was just saying it seems kinda dumb to spend that much on something brand new, that isn't real great. My car was pretty much perfect when i got it 3 months ago. A few scratches on exterior, no engine problems (had it checked before buying) and a few stains on interior (gopt seat covers) so I am really happy w/ mine.
