I'd bet both of my nuts that the spings up front weren't seated properly and that was the cause of your issue as far as height is concerned. In anycase, I don't appreciate you coming in here acting like ur all bad and shit cause truth be told, I'd mop the floor w/your puny ass. But back on topic, no way in hell is cutting the bumpstop gonna reduce ride height UNLESS YOUR SPRINGS ARE SO COMPRESSED THAT YOUR CAR IS RIDING ON THE BUMPSTOPS. And seeing as how you have sport springs w/AGX shocks, I know for a fact that you aren't riding on the bump stops cause I have the same exact setup.
um

Can't tell these noobs nothing anymore. The only reason I took offense to what he said is cause I was never rude to him when I was telling him that cutting them wouldn't lower the car, so for him to come at me like that was unnecessary.

Hmm, n00b here, but not in general.
Sorry my car doesn't have a wing, body kit, 18 inch wheels, 5% tinted windows and clear lights. That's just not my style,

And like I said in my HS thread, the springs and struts were taken apart and re-installed EXACTLY how they were the first time, so they were seated correctly. I even checked that when I took them apart because the top strut mount "locks" or "clicks". So, I install my shocks/springs, and the front is higher. I take them apart, cut the bumpstops, it goes 1 finger lower...hmmmmm?

I was never trying to be rude, just offering another view because everything was installed correctly. Don't ya think it'd be a little weird that I'd install BOTH fronts incorrectly and the rears correctly? ESPECIALLY when I work at a shop and had TWO mechanics with 10 years + experience DOUBLE CHECK over my shoulder...yep, thanks bud.

well... as he said before...

it seems that they weren't seated correctly the first time or there was something other than the bumpstops that changed. all the bumpstops do is prevent the frame of your car from bottoming out on the shock. the only way that cutting your bumpstops is going to lower your car is if and only if your springs and shocks are so compressed that you are riding on them and that isn't gonna happen with sport springs, bottom line. 10 years of experience don't mean much either. i've seen mechanics that have been in the biz for 20+ years stare, befuddled, at vehicles that they've never worked on before.

if i had to guess i'd say that the springs settled a bit and you just didn't notice it until you pulled everything apart and put it back together again. all lowering springs settle a little the first few months.

Like I said, cutting the bump stops isn't gonna lower ur car unless ur suspension is compressed to the point to where ur riding on them and being that we have identical suspension setups, I know for a fact that ur car isn't riding on them. But if it makes you feel better to think that cutting the foam bump stop, that just sits there on the shaft of the shocks to prevent ur frame from bottoming out on the shocks, actually lowered your car, more power to you. You had something else going on there bro, my guess is that the springs weren't seated properly. I know ur incapable of making mistakes so it's impossible for that to have been the problem

Well, I'm not taking sides here in this little bumpstop squabble...buuuut I just wanted to point something out that someone who is experienced should know....

Everycar is different... some are faster from the factory than others, some have different ride heights. I've seen identical year and model cars lowered on identical setups sitting at different ride heights...So even though you might have an "identical suspension" it doesn't mean that it will have the same characteristics on another car...so your arguement is not valid VRGNCD5 and seems like a "noob" response IMO. Don't be so closeminded and allow for the possibilty that his susp could sit differently... and no 2 cars are "identical".
Although TeamLegacy you don't need to start the I told you so crap either... So you got your problem fixed good for you. Enjoy it and don't feel so high and mighty...if you couldn't figure it out in the first place what makes you think you know it all now? If no one helped you out you'd still be whining about it.

I don't know the years, models of the 2 cars in question but we all know about the differing spring perch height and slight differences between 94-95 and 96-97 suspensions.

In reality and all fairness it could have the bumpstops, the spring seating or 1000 other factors or even a combo of things... but does it really matter who is right for chrissakes? the problem is fixed...

I did let him, but im not the kind of person to let someone talk shit about or to me w/o getting in my .02. He said what he said, I said what I said, whatever, it's water under the bridge. Im not gonna lose any sleep over it and im sure he's not having nightmares about being used as a mop

::yawn:: I'm done, I was kidding but now you're all bent out of shape. Lock this ****ing thread.

And shyt, any one of you could mop the floor with me with your pinky toe and a garden shovel. My ass weighs 120 pounds expanding over 5'11''. I'm not a heavyweight, If I stand in WIND GUSTS strong enough, I lose equilibrium and get caught in the updraft.
