Prelude=No replacement

Prelude was unique and it always will be ..

Solara look great but looks like a old people car .. more like big american style, IMO
Accord coupe 2dr. with oem aero kit looks very very nice and more agressive than a solara but still not a replacement for prelude .. still too big .. heavy ..definatelly not a sports car ..

Preludes used to be 24K-26K ,,, S2000's are 31K-33K not saying that S2000's are replacements for Preludes but remember Prelude means "that comes before" .. so i guess S2000's are more replacements than the heavy Accord .. well ... that was my 2 cents

If you ever look at all the cars on the road, there are more old hondas (87 to 93 than toyotas, that right there tells you honda is way more reliable!

Also you notice how they say (Camry Solara), its still a camry, its just that Honda doesnt have to say (Accord "sporty name here"), its already sporty, it already has more power, it looks better than toyotas, is always perfered over any other Japinese car, and most people who say that toyotas are so reliable is the ones who cant afford to get a honda (a 2 to 5 thousand difference can make some people not want it), Hands down it won by a land slide!

Also I sort of get what your saying about the couger whoever said it, but when the new accord came out it reminded me of the back lights on the SL55, take a look below!

Default As a former Accord Coupe V6 6-Speed Owner...

Hello there~

I see that you are in between the Accord and Solara.

First of all, it's the matter of what your goals are.

If you are looking for speed, you should definately go for the Accord, since it offers the nice 6-Speed 3.0!

I'm a guy who changes cars every 6 months to 1 year. I usually keep about 3 cars at once. So, in 3 years I usually drive about 9 cars. ;-)

When the Accord coupe first came out (in 6-speed version), I went to test drive one. I really liked it and I bought it on February of 2003. (I then sold it on November of 2003. The period was 9 months, which is above average and it means I liked it. If I don't like the car I buy, I usually sell within 3 weeks.)

The engine is incredibly smooth from low-mid to high RPMs. The short-throw, close-ratio 6-speed is incredibly well spaced with proper gearings.

When I had this car, I also had a 2003 Mustang GT (stick, of course).

I have a friend who loves cars and driving as well. He and I used to take these two cars out for street races all the time.... and guess what?

They run side to side up until 80 MPH and after that the 6-speed Accord takes lead of the Mustang. Mustang, having 260HP and 302 FT-LBS and Accord only(?) has 240HP and 212 FT-LBS of torque, it is obviously hard to imagine. In fact, nobody would believe me if I said I even beat S2000s and WRXs with this Accord (Of course, in street(rolling)-start only. On the standing start, S2000 and WRX takes lead due to better traction. Accord suffers from serious wheel-spin on rolling start with a lot of torque steer.)

That is why Accord only recorded 5.9 seconds on 0-60 from Car and Driver and 6.3 seconds from Motor Trend. If this car was a rear or all wheel drive, this car could have done low to mid 5 second barrier with the same weight, engine and drivetrain.

I think the Solara has better exterior design. But that is due to latter model year. Latter year models always tends to have better design.

But, if you think of the sportiness, you should definately go with the Accord.

But if you want smoothness and exterior design, you should go with Solara.
With bigger displacement, it has smoother start in low RPM. My wife has the new RX330, which shares the engine with Solara, and it has a very smooth engine and transmission.

Either way is fine, but I strongly recommend the Accord Coupe!

What do I drive now? Hehe... I now have an EVO 8. I bought this last Christmas and still have it.... and am planning to keep this car forever!

I have bought and owned more than 50 different cars over the period of 16 years and this car was the only car that made me completely satisfied that made me to decide to keep it forever. ;-)

This is an incredibly well made car. Acceleration, braking, cornering, ride, even fit-and-finish... and it's got the "LOOKS" too! ;-)

Oh, I just want to mention just one thing. On paper it says 271 HP. It is completely wrong and it is completely under-rated. Driving is believing, right?

When I bought this car, I actually did not want to buy this car. I was going to buy the 300HP STi. I went to test drive one and I loved it. So I was going to buy it. But I wanted to feel confident that I was making the right decision. So I went to test drive the EVO right after I test drove the STi.

What the hec??????? The EVO feels better on acceleration and it actually is stronger and faster. Not only I felt it, but two other friends felt the same.

So, I took the deposit out from the STi dealer and bought the EVO on the same day! ;-)

I first thoght... 2.0 Turbo... 271 HP... What can it do?... It only has 31HP more than the Accord 6-speed. So it shouldn't be any faster than the Accord on rolling start and it should feel just a little bit faster than the WRX (slow...).

But when I first drove it, I realized why it is so famous. Even more so than the more(?) potent STi. No wonder, on the Dyno it recorded 73 HP more that the WRX and 9 HP more than STi at the wheels! That easily translates to about 310 HP.

After learning about this fact, I called a few places where I could talk to a few Mitsubishi personnels. No wonder. It really does have over 300HP. It is just that they wanted to keep it under 276 HP for several reasons. (It's meant to keep undisclosed so I won't mention it.)

Anyways... too much about my EVO, hehe...

I say.. GO FOR the ACCORD V6!!!... and preferably 6-speed!

Oh, if you want to see my EVO, you can see it here. I don't have a personal website that I can put my EVO pictures on. So, if you (site managers) find it offensive in any ways, let me know. I will delete this link:
