Default Overheating!!!! Ahhhh Kill Me

would someone take my intake and shove it up my ass? omg. 2 days ago i installed an AEM intake (replacing my old generic short ram intake) on my 1998 v6 accord coupe. don't get me wrong, i love this intake. but damn. today when i was at in-n-out i was waiting for my food and my temperature meter shot up 3/4 of the way!!!

WTF. so i shifted to neutral and revved the engine, and then the meter went back to a little below half way[normal] wtf. do you think its just some water stuck in the air filter that's struggling to get air to the engine[since i was just waiting for my food, and my car was idling]. is that the reason for the engine overheating??

this has happend to me before, but with my old intake. i finally figured out that my thermostat was crapping out on me so i replaced it and did not have any further problems until today.

i replaced my thermostat about 2 months ago, and i HIGHLY doubt that it is the thermostat crapping out on me again. i checked my antifreeze and radiator, they're in ship shape condition. i don't understand why this crap is haunting me again.

can anyone give any suggestions what is going on here?

you should check if your radiator fans are coming on. check for leaks. check the condition of the coolant. also u might have an air pocket in the cooling system. im not sure if there is a bleeder valve on that car, but drive it till it gets hot, then shut the engine off, let it cool and then check the coolant. i would check the radiator fans first.

Check your flux capicitor under your dash. And disengage your VTEC when your idling for that long:fawk:

revving your motor makes the coolant circulate faster

Sounds like his engine over temp sensor failed to tell his radiator fan to kick in.

dood. it works. when the radiator in my civic was failing, it cooled down the motor. same thing worked in my dad's '85 benz. turning on your heater also drops engine temps alot
