Default 6th gen sunroof problems (fixed!)

My sunroof on my '02 EX was squeaking and rattling like crazy, I know this is a common problem with the Accord, but this was getting REALLY annoying. So, being due for an oil change, and knowing that it was free (I have a preferred customer card thing that the dealer was offering when I bought the car), I decided to complain about it at the dealer and see what would happen. I was surprised to find out that apparently there's been a service bulletin and they corrected the problem with some shims and some sort of sound-deadening material (none of which I can actually see). Believe it or not, the thing is dead quiet now. So if any of you have been putting up with the sunroof making noise, make sure you get it checked out if you're still under warranty. Let the dealer know there's a service bulletin out there. Hopefully you'll have the same luck I did.

Thanks. My sunroof (2002 SE) rattles like a donkey on a greek foothill. My parents TL-S sunroof rattles too.
I will mention this the next time I'm at the dealership.

This is why you buy the LX without a sunroof. :happysad:

I went in because I had a squeeky sunroof, and they said its a commom problem on 6th gen coupes. He said the seal drys out, and needs to be treated. So he came out with some sort of lubrication type stuff, and put it all around the black seal, and then wiped it off, and no more squeeks/rattles/ect. Worked great, and free.

In my case, they actually shimmed and installed sound deadening as per a TSB. So, I'm guessing that something is a little weird in the mounts or there's too much play. Not only was there a squeaky noise, but it was actually rattling. So something was going on there and I don't think lubrication was the issue (although I have heard others on this board say that there was some lubricant applied to their sunroofs when they complained).
