A wee addendum to my post. This happened about 40 mins ago...I suspect NYC is finally on true ricer crackdown.

Officer: Sir can I have your license and registration.
Me: Sir, can I ask what I did?
O: First, you have an aftermarket exhaust and you were speeding.
M: Speeding?! How could I speed in traffic and on Jamaica Ave (for those that know between springfield and hempstead at 6 pm)
O: Well I heard you come around springfield real loud.
M: It's illegal to have an aftermarket exhaust?
O: Yes....they're too loud.
M: (i should said this, but I din't) Then wouldn't that make Meineke mufflers illegal?
M: (what I really said) Well, I find that hard to believe cuz my muffler is quieter than stock, and is street legal.
O: No its not.
M: So why don't you measure how loud it is.
O: Why don't you start up the car an rev it up?
M: (Smiling inside) Sure why not?
Sound of F22 revving to 3500 in park with RS*R.
O: (in some disbelief) Rev it up higher.
M: Sure. (sound of car revving to redline in park)
O: I'll get the sound meter.
M: Go ahead, but you know that's pretty quiet.
O: Fine go to court and you'll win.
M: So then why ticket me?
O: Give me your license and registration.
Mobliging) Here.
Officer leaves. I start worrying he'll see old speeding tickets (paid off) and give me no mercy.
O: (Returning) Here you go, I'm gonna give you a warning, go slower and get a plug for that exhaust.
M: But officer where can I get a plug? And why its really quiet.
O: Yeah but its too big.
M: (Patronizing) Ok I will.

Moral of the story, know your car and communicate with the officer.

I know that what the cop really heard was my iceman (street legal) intake and not my exhaust. I knew that it only gets loud when VTEC crosses over. I knew that VTEC doesn't crossover without the speedo moving (no VTEC in park).

I'll admit I was lucky. I wasn't speeding, but the piggy could have got me on reckless driving for acclerating quickly (albeit to 30 mph ). The pig should have done his homework and nailed me for clear corners and illegal HID's, but he wasn't thinking that fast.

So guys with intakes....please be careful.

i love the RSR. It really is worth the effort to hunt one down. It is truly silent compared to most and in general, quieter than stock.

The only complaint I have is that all of the piping is not stainless steel. I like that the tip is a rolled tip and not one with the sharp edge. I like that it is not ridiculously huge (although the cop thought it was; it is smaller than a CD). The muffler shines up nicely.....

check here for a pic of it.....

weird, but after almost four years of being fairly visible as a ricer this was my first stop for a rice thing. More interesting I have never been stopped while rolling on my 17's...weird huh?

speakin of cops, damn i just posted on this thread about DB levels, and i got pulled over today on my way to college, he was chillin right in front of the toll booth in the middle of the road! so i go past him.... he looks me straight in the eye and im like... S*IT... ive got a test to go to.... i dont need this... so of course i get pulled over, he tells me that my tint is too dark... so i was like thanks captain obvious, then he tells me my exhaust is too loud, and its too loud if he can hear it at all, then he says cause my 3rd brake light is out thats illegal too, no comments about my tails or hyperwhite directionals, 2 of the most obvious illegal things with my car, so i tell him im on my way to a test a UAlbany (famous criminal justice program), so he goes back into his car fast, comes back out with a warning in about 2 min. tells me ill get pulled over again sometime for the exhaust, to be honest my DC sports exhaust isnt that loud, it has a resonator in it still, and i know hella lots of people without them in their cars, i was like 1 min late to my test, and i told my prof that i got pulled over and her eyes lit up and said that sucks... so thats what happened today, ironicly after i posted like 2 days ago

now that is fawked up, the cop is basically telling you i pulled you over cause you have a big exhaust tip, not cause of the noise. since when is there a law for a muffler tip size. i'd file a complaint on the officer.
