update:

I was doing a physical exam on an NYPD member yesterday and I asked him about my traffic stop the previous day.

It is nowhere illegal to have an aftermarket exhaust (yeah meineke!!). You can be stopped and ticketed for noise violation. Funny thing was when I was halfway through my story (see above) when I mentioned the soundmeter, that my patient's eyes bugged out and he said : The officer had his sound meter with him??!! I said i wasn't sure. My patient said, most officers don't have one with them.

He admitted to me that NYPD does profile folks in anything that looks like a "hotrod" honda and SUV's. They use it to stop peeps for expired insurance, licenses, inspections and registrations. the easy money makers. So my big exhaust tip was what made me fit the profile and to be treated like a punk criminal.

so racial profiling is illegal, but pulling someone over just cause of a big exhaust tip isn't? either way it's discrimination. that cop is basically saying that we pull people over simply cause of how their car looks in an effort to find something they can write them a ticket for and make money for the state...and cops wonder why so many of us dislike them so much. in my experience there always seems to be a cop to nail you for something dumb, while there is never a cop when you need one.

 

Some even sound like lawnmowers.
