my friend has 20% on all windows since may 2000 and he only got 1 ticket since it's been tinted, this is on long island, he just paid it i think it was like $65

i think when all the windows are tinted the same percentage it looks better, but do what you want
if you do go dark just roll down both front windows when you pass by a cop

i've got 35% all around including front windshield.....in 2 years never got a ticket for it......hell i was pulled over twice for other stuff and the cop still did not do anything......every couple of years tho, seems like the cops have a big tint crackdown so u just gotta watch out fo that.....also, stay outta the crack hoods!!!!! thats the reason tint is outlawed for some windows anywayz!

In CT 35% is legal on all windows, and you can use whatever you want on the rear windows, as long as the front windows are 35%. They don't even give you a ticket anymore, they give you a warning and you have to have your car inspected at motor vehicles so they can check to see if it's a legal percent tint. I have heard that 35% is legal everywhere, if not, why would they have factory tinted windows on cars, even on the front windows? The same way the clear tail lights were illegal, until the new lexus R330 came out with them and they said there legal as long as you have LED bulbs. I've seen NY state troopers with all windows tinted so I assume that it's legal to have a certain %. Call your local public official, I'm sure they would tell you what you can have. That way if you get a cop who is bored, you can go to court and throw it in his face, not that he'd probably show up, seeing as they don't show up for speeding tickets.

I found this site that will help you and all others who want to know what's legal. They have info for all states. http://www.autowindowtinting.com//st...ntLaws_newyork New York is 70% on the front windows, any% on the rears. I know I saw that D.T. NY Trooper car (Impala) with all the windows tinted extremely dark, like below 35% but you know it would be like a huge fight to try to find out why they can have it and you have to follow the law.
