To do the blinkers, I had to cut them open with a dremel. I wouldn't recomend painting the housing black like I did. It really cut down on the light. Smoking from the inside would work a lot better.

yeah, smoke the lens from the inside. If you smoke the outside, it gets chipped up to no end. I used to have the outside smoked and it looked good for about a month.

It actually makes the light more visable. The larger contract of black then orange makes it more visable. Even though I used gloss black, you can tell that the blinker housings are ment to do lots of reflecting internally to give a good light spread.

Well I'm not going quite as dark as you, I'm doing JDM corners, and will prolly keep the bumper lights clear.

BTW, props on your site, I use it all the time. And I just love the polished lip on your rims dude! You ever think of getting tint?

times are tight for a poor college student right now. Tint and black housing s-type tails are amung the next items for my car. With med school loans I also hope to afford an h22 with direct port nitrous in the near future as well.

well cryogens look really dark so you may be getting the wrong idea, but thats just his camera I assume. You don't paint over the main reflector parts (towards the back) just the front where its straight, instead off all those turns on the inside. ehh I kinda suck at explaining this I just realized, but you would know what to paint once you opened it up.

Basically, you paint all the chrome areas that aren't actually used in directing light.

I'm sure you loose a tiny bit of light, maybe 5% or prolly less. But the main reflectors are not being painted.
