Default Rear Speakers: 99 Accord Coupe

I recently bought a pair of Infinity Kappa 639.5i 6x9" speakers for the rear of my 99 Accord Coupe. The place I bought them from said that they would fit, however when I tried to install them there wasnt enough depth in the trunk due to the two black metal bars that run across the trunk. My Question is what is the function of these two bars and what would happen if I removed them to allow clearance for the speakers. Thanks a lot.

Im not exactly sure what the bars do, but they are probably there for a good reason so I wouldn't mess with them. My suggestion would be to make some spacer rings out of mdf to compensate for the depth. They will be sticking up a little but at least they will fit.

i'm assuming your talking about the two thin "tension bars" that help to keep the trunk lid up...

Yes I meant the tension bars. I took them out temporarily just to get the speakers in. I was just wondering if there is any kind of modification that can be done so that I can use something else to keep the trunk lid open being as I want to keep the speakers in and thats not possible with the tension bars in the stock positions.

Like I said before, the easiest thing to do would be to make some spacer rings out of MDF that fit around the outside area of the speaker where the holes are. This way, the depth problem will be solved, but the speakers may be sticking up a little. Its a lot easier than messing with trunk tension bars.

Ok Thought I'd resurect a dead thread via the search funtion

Any how, I have a 00 coupe running some Pioneer speakers I got at Best buy on the rear deck, some type of TS/G4 A699 type speaker, what ever, I have the same type in the door of my S-10 the 6.5 are also listed for my S-10 and Accord.

OK, the question is, the biggest speaker that will fit the rear of the 98-02 coupe is a 6x9 of 2 7/8" top depth, trial and error proved this. I haven't yet pulled the doors but what is everyone running? I'd like to run an AMP to power my doors and rear deck.

What are people running for doors? I'd like to avoid much modification. But would like to have good sound and some ability to run the spearkers via a 40w RMS or so AMP at minimum.

What are you running on the rear deck too?

in my front i had some alpine 6 1\2 " but i took those out and replaced them with some image dynamics 6 1\2" .

i replaced my rear stock speakers with some pioneer TS-A6970R 6" x 9" 3ways and i have 2 12" jl w0 all powered by an alpine mrv-f340

to fit the speakers i used a spacer so that it would clear the bars. used some 1/2" mdf on the back part of the speakers and they are still able to be covered with the stock speaker covers

Cool, I fit some TS-6x9 2-ways in the rear (no spacer needed - 40w RMS) so I'm kinda covered there. What was required to fit the Alpines in the doors. I not sure what I want to put in the doors. I think the depth stock is limited to 2" ball park. Any chance I could fit some 100watt RMS speakers in the front doors?
Most appear to be too large in depth.

I would love to run a JL500/5 Amp, my 6x9 Pioneers, and a JL-12W3 Sub. The problem is I need some 100w RMS capable front door speakers.

Else I'd love to be able to run a JL e4300 AMP 45w x4 for the satellites and a 250/1 AMP for the sub.

Ideas?
