Hello,
Our white 2002 accord coupe v6 seems to have 2 different shades of white, the car is a nice brite white and the front and rear end caps seem to be a darker off-white. We bought the car new just prior to the 03 coming out. We've seen a few other white accords with the same problem. Is there any service bullitens or has anyone had this problem addressed by their dealer?
Thanks

The reason is because the front and rear bumper covers are plastic, while the rest of the car is sheetmetal.
The different material, combined with the added adhesions in the paint on the bumpers causes a different shade.
Can't really do anything about it. If it REALLY bad, go ahead and take it to the dealer and see what they say.
Well if you mean the bumper covers then this is a common problem with urethane covers. It hold color different than the metal of the car and sometimes comes out darker and sometimes lighter.
As for recalls or service notices I personally haven't heard of any as of recent.

I assume by 'caps' you mean the front and rear bumpers. This is common on lighter cars, as the paint looks different on plastic versus metal. I've never heard of this, and there are no recalls or TSBs out for it.

Thanks for the reply.
I've seen some car manufactures paint match (light/white colors) and others not. It seems like if the manf. knows the plastic will come out darker than the metal could'nt they paint them a shade or two lighter to adjust fro the diff.? Our car's end/bumper caps seem to have a slight yellowish to the white. Was curious if anyone with a white accord had any luck at the dealer

It would not be cost effective to use two different types of paints for a color. I'm sure BMW, MB and others do it...but certainly not on a $20,000 Honda.
