Default koni yellow question

Sorry to bother you but I have a question about koni yellow adjustable shocks. I have heard that regualr koni yellows have 3 perches and that there is a neuspeed version that has 5 perches. Recently I heard that there is a koni yellow sport edition that has 5 perches. Are the neuspeed editions and the sport editions the same thing?? If not, then what are the differences between the two and which would be better for driving comfort. Thanks in advance guys!!!!:drunk:  :loco:

Yes, they are the same thing...neuspeed carries the same shock so they just name it under their brand. Either way, yes, the sport/neuspeed version is 5 perches and the regular have 3.

Actually to clarify...the Koni Sport = regular Koni "yellows" and have 3 perches.

The Neuspeed Edition Koni Sports = koni yellow sports with 5 perches and a 2cm shorter shock body.

Both are rebound adjustable.

On our cars, the spring sits right on the shock body. So where the spring sits on the shock body determines the ride height of the car.

The stock shocks only have one perch, and it's fixed:

Here's the Koni yellows:

They have different perch heights, so while installing them you can have a little adjustment in ride height.

Here's the koni yellows installed with the whole perch assembled and the spring resting on the perch:

im still a litlle confused. so basically the perch is the "cup" thing that holds the bottom of the spring right? you get 5 of them with the konis? or is it the little disc that is on the shocks. im thinking that because you took a picture of it and it has 5 slots on the shock.

Okay, see how there are 5 grooves? You can put the spring perch at the level of any of those grooves. You do it by: 1. Putting that little ring into the groove you want (in that picture, it is in the middle groove) 2. Slide the spring seat (looks goldish metal color in the pics) onto that ring. The ring will keep it on the shock body at that level. Then as you assemble the spring/shock assembly, the spring sits right on that spring seat.

And you only get 5 grooves on the Neuspeed edition Koni Sports (yellows). The normal Koni Sports (yellows) have 3.

ok. i understand now. so is there any performance differences between the "regular" koni yellows and the "neuspeed/sport" version besides the 2 extra spring perches? and one more thing, if the little ring holds up the springs and the springs hold up the car, isnt that a little risky placing the weight of the whole car on those little rings. has anyone's rings every snapped or broke? i am asking because i got a set (regular 3 perches) sitting in my living room with eibach prokits and i wanted to know everything about them before i installed them because i got them used for $420 and it didnt come with instructions. its currently in the middle perch right now and i have a black widow kit so should i keep the perch setting there or raise it? thanks for all the help!

Well, Koni's been making them this way for a while now, so it must work fine. While it's true that the ring isn't real thick and strong, the lever arm is very short, so it's not under great strain.

Well, the middle perch is supposed to be the same height as the stock perch on the stock shocks. So if you leave them on the middle perch, it'll be dropped only as much as the Eibach springs say they will. If you want to go lower, use the lower perch for slightly more drop.

The upper perches on the rear can be useful if you have a huge audio system in your trunk and you need to even out your drop by raising the rear slightly.

If you need instructions, I can hook you up. I just installed mine 2 weeks ago.
