Okay, see how there are 5 grooves? You can put the spring perch at the level of any of those grooves. You do it by: 1. Putting that little ring into the groove you want (in that picture, it is in the middle groove) 2. Slide the spring seat (looks goldish metal color in the pics) onto that ring. The ring will keep it on the shock body at that level. Then as you assemble the spring/shock assembly, the spring sits right on that spring seat.

And you only get 5 grooves on the Neuspeed edition Koni Sports (yellows). The normal Koni Sports (yellows) have 3.
