Wassup everyone! I'm an FNG to writing posts, but not to reading them. I think all ya cats are mad cool and helpful. I have a 96 Accord EX and I copped the Tein Super Streets and had them installed yesterday. The shop owner asked me how much I wanted to drop it and I said an inch all around for now. When I saw how the car looked I was too excited to notice how low it was. I think he LEFT an inch all around. My question is this, when I go over bumps there is a noise that sounds kinda like a clump. Is that because it's really low or is it something else? I like the way it looks, but I'm going to have to raise it. I live in Queens and there are a lot of bumps and it feels really harsh on the streets. Sounds like it may just be too low and the struts are bottoming out. I would try raising it a little and seeing what happens.

Another thing is that the arm may be connecting with something in the front end or you may be hitting the inner fenderwell with the tire....put your hand up between the wheel and the fender well and bounce the car a couple times and see how close it gets, you should be able to judge if its hitting there from that simple test.

BTW leaving only 1" all around is extremely low even for Teins so my first answer is what I am going with here.

 

i have a 6th gen with teins, this could possibly be the problem.

Open up the hood and see where the the tops of the coilovers are. push down on the car and see if the tip of the coilovers move. If while you push down and the coilovers are exposed more, then they forgot to install something. Kinda hard to explain

When i had mine installed, they forgot to install something from my stock parts, so that the coilovers weren't catching on anything...just going up until they hit my hood and going up through the backseat

i drove home from the shop and was hearing a clunking noise, as soon as i pulled into my driveway opened up the hood to see what was wrong and saw this



then in the backseat




since they forgot to install something, when I would hit a bump, the car would move down, but the coilover tip (wasn't catching on to something) would go up into the hood, giving the spring leverage to compress. Boy was i pissed...there wasn't too much damage in the hood (didn't come through the top or anything)

What also may happen is that if he raised it, he might have forgotten to tighten the top nut down. You should check if it is tighten, if not, tighten them. That might be a possibility why your car is making that clump sound. If you don't tighten the top nut, say bye bye to your damper inside your car someday. It happened to meh:

Looks like you forgot to install the dust cover with that washer to stop the spacer from extending.

holy sh*t i cant believe those pics man. What did the shop say when you took it back.

 

I installed my TEIN HAs back in September. At first I put the collar at 2" from the top, thinking it would be a 2" drop. Wrong. It ended up being stock height! So I put the collar all the way to the bottom, so it looks like this:



I measured a stock EX accord (ground to the fender), and then measured my car, I'm dropped 3". My front shocks are on the softest setting, and the back is in the middle setting.

Do your TEINs look like that? Everything is in place?

 

Thx for all the help fellas. I did think they were too low and I saw something in the manual that said to leave an oem part in when replacing the factory struts and springs with the teins. I haven't jacked up the car yet, but I'm bringing it to the shop today to fix it. As a matter of fact, I'm getting ready now to head over there. I hope my freakin coilovers don't end up popping out my hood. Thx for all the advice fellas! I will let you know wassup when I get back. L8
