so unless you plan on throwing a rod..........hold off on getting the higher redline.
EXACTLY, thats wat i was sayiung. If ur engine is STILL mostly stock, then u run the risk of blowing it. Just the camshaft changed DOES NOT mean ur engine is ready for high rpms. And i would do more work to the engine and make SURE is ready BEFORE i change out the ecu or have it chipped.

well what about running close to redline. I never reach red but sometimes when me and my friends race, I go as far as 6,000pms. just before it reaches red.:dunno:

just because the new camshaft can handle higher rpm's doesnt mean your engine can.

I hit redline all the time, there's nothing wrong with it. The engine is built to go to redline. It's even OK to go past redline...your owner's manual will state the fuel cut off point.

Running the engine at higher RPMs will wear it down faster however.

TRUE!!!

Its like putting an NSX seat in a Civic while ur saying it can handle like an NSX..it just doesnt happen!! Thats my opinion, sorry, i just dont believe Honda angines that were desgned for family can handle such abuse.

I have the F22 engine as well. I run it to about 6000RPM (it's a perfect point for shifting too, the engine speed drops 2K RPM and allows for a VERY smooth 1-2 shift, or - maybe that's just skill ). I wouldn't advise running past redline without extensive modifcations.
