Is it me or are 97 accords....
I heart my 96 LX. It's my second Accord. The first one (a 91) was severely abused by my pizza delivery job, bun still ran fine when I traded it in for my new one, which now has 95,000 miles and still runs just fine. No parts have ever dropped off to my knowledge, either.

110k on my 96... the only things fixed:
front engint mount 30kmi, under warranty
power door lock solenoid, 60kmi under warranty
cv boots, 70kmi under warranty
driver's window motor, 94kmi under warranty
tranny rebuild 105kmi, $800, kinda expected, the way i drove my car.....
i guess the extended warranty was kinda worth it...

bought mine used in '00 with 29k miles from carmax. Nothing gone wrong since except 1 battery, 1 O2 sensor, and stock muffler developed hole. Other than that, pure reving joy(6200 redline only lol). And knowing my friend had the 89 legend with this engine up to 207k miles before it go flooded without trouble gives me assurance. On top of that, my stock tires will still last until probably 85-90k. I love this car!! AND I got 33.33 mpg today freeway, highest ever for me with this damn v6!
'97 Accord EX 5-speed sedan
165.3k miles
Just redid CV joints. Blew stock shock absorbers at 130k miles.
Need to do the timing belt (never been changed).
Need to clean the EGR passages.
Need to get the SRS system checked and light turned off.
Baby'll be good as new when I'm done.
Oh yeah, the original Brake Rotors are down to nothing. Need to get those replaced as well.
So as you can see, just routine shiit. I'm happy as hell for a car I bought with 48k back in 11/99!

Um, you might want to go get that timing belt changed ASAP! (and water pump while your at it). If you belt goes, bye bye motor.
As for me, I have a 97 EX, have never had any major problems except for a few minor things. I currently have 135k and tickin!
02 coupe with 12k miles. Oil changes, tire rotation, maintanence required light reset, car washes, tire pressure check, and other routine ****.
Hondas are one of the most if not the most reliable cars in the world. Thats why their resale values are so high compared to domestics and other chits. Didnt u read earlier about that accord guy who hit a million miles on his accord? and prior to that, he hit like 600k miles on his previous accord. All the accord owners i know of with 5th gens ALL passed 200k easily. Dont doubt honda cause you had bad luck with them. You should f*ck the dealer up by taking some legal action (get a lawyer, file a claim, report to HONDA MOTOR of North America, also report to Better Business Bereau, etc). GOod luck man...
