Default Shock Tower Torquing when installing springs.

Hello, i just installed springs and i was wondering how many pounds of torque you are supposed to exert when tightening the shock towers. Is there a certain number of lbs or do u just do it until u cant tighten them anymore? Thanks.

i just hand tightened them with a socket wrench and then retightened them every few days for about a week or two.

The self locking nut on the damper unit itself should be torqued to 22lbs*ft

The five flange nuts surrounding that should be torqued to 37lbs.

You don't take them out to retighten them, do you?

I tried to tighten the ones in the engine compartment by putting a vice grip on the top of the piston and turning the self-locking nut with an adjustable wrench (don't have a 17mm wrench in my $30 tool kit). I couldn't get a good enough grip with the vice grip to turn the nut without rotating the entire piston. I've got aftermarket Gabriel struts (autozone) on my car and they don't have an allen key head like I've seen on some struts.

I don't want to have to completely uninstall the strut tower and tighten it while gripping furhter down the piston through the springs. But that seems to be the only way i'm gonna get a good enough grip on the piston to further tighten the self-locking nut.

And what's this thing with cutting the bumper stop? I've only got a 0.75" drop on my accord now with H&R OE Sports.

You don't need to cut them with that drop.

I have the H&R sports, and they recommended to not cut the bumpstop.

hm........does it really make a lot of difference? cause when i was installing my eibach pro kits, i cut them as the instruction book said, 20mm and 30mm on front and back. What does the bumpstop exactly do? and when u cut them, how does it affect the car or the suspension? Thanks.
