In turn wasting somebody's time to type it out again when they could have simply posted a like to the "disk brake DIY thread", etc!

The reason we need this is because so many parts of the car are VERY similar to all cars. Disk brakes are practically IDENTICLE(spelling)on all modern cars(foreign and domestic), as well as drums. I dont know how universal oil changing is either. We can make a "perfect" DIY once for each of these topics and call it a day, it'll save alot of people alot of time.

I VOTE YES! I can even help if u want, i dont have a digital camera but have a very nice 35mm one. So the best i can do is actually do the DIY's and write them up.

Dave
Sweet bro. Glad you're willing to contribute:thumbup: Hopefully we can get this thing going, if so, your help will definitely be appreciated.

Yeah, I hope so, I think it will be an asset to alot of people here who like doing things to thier car themselves, like me I don't have the addy's anymore, I tossed them after a while when nothing was happening. If this gets voted in, I will hit up some sites like last time and do it all over again, you in? I think with the people that we have here who support this and are willing to contribute thier knowledge to the forum, we'd be able to post some useful DIY's until getting clearance to post others from other boards. Now I wish I had kept all of that stuff:doh: Did you keep the one's you got, along with the confirmations that you got saying we could use the DIY's from those sites?
No man, hotmail automatically deleted all those emails when my account overflowed on vacation, those bastards. We had like 40 good DIY's for Civics and Accords too

Yep, sure did Oh well, as of a minute ago, the count was 35 in favor of, 4 against so hopefully that will hold up and we'll get this thing and then I will gladly get clearance again, you?

I hear you bro, and you do make a point. However, the biggest difference is that with all the DIY's in one place, people won't waste their time flipping through the various pages of threads in all the other forums trying to find it. Yeah, that's what the search tool is for, but sometimes it will either bring up too many threads that are only brought up because it contains a word that you were searching for in it, or bring up no threads because you aren't wording it correctly. I think it would be nice to have a DIY forum so they are all in the same vicinity which can not only be a reference to those that need it, but also can give other people ideas about things they'd like to do to thier car. So far, it's looking good, keep the support coming.
I think that we should make it a SECTION rather than a forum. It will just become a whore fest like all of the "post pics of your cars" stickys. If we lock the SECTION down and make it so that members have to send the "how-to" to a designated mod(s) and the mods put the info into the SECTION, then it will really help people to know how to do things and they won't have to sift through useless whoring... that's my opinion.

I kinda like that idea, except that we'd be at the mercy of the mod appointed to that section to put it up when he/she gets around to it. I will volunteer to be the mod for that section/forum cause it's something I really want to make happen and have invested alot of time in and I won't allow it to become Off-topic jr. Not only that, but I will post up what's submitted in a timely manner, i'm on the board daily. I will also attempt to set a standard for the mods to live up to, by communicating w/the members in a manner which is productive for all involved.

that too is a good idea. the way it's gonna work out isn't set in stone yet, but I would vote for having a DIY section for each model like you said instead of having one DIY forum:thumbup:

all these ideas are great.. IF the board was THAT huge.. quite simply its not.... and the more you subdivide it the more it makes it liek work... " uh oh joe accidecntly put his new LCD in dash screen in appearance.. thats really car audio.. better move it" then all f the sudden there are 8 million threads moved.. and a MILLION noobs posting "why did my thread get moved"

no offense but i still stand by if it aint broke dont fix it..

no offense taken. you're entitled to your opinion. And you do have a point.........if we were trying to add 10 more forums, it's only 1 bro.
