um did you bother to read the first post in the thread? He clearly says hes contacted Chris_Webmaster, and that Chris wants member input on the idea.

Apparently not.

I'll make this an announcement so you don't have to spam every forum. Bah, I can only do it for the forums I mod.

Alright guys, here we go.

I have wanted to get a DIY(Do it yourself) forum here on HAN for a while. Myself and 98AccordCpe(formerly 02rsxTypeS) did alot of footwork a couple months ago trying to get clearance from various sites allowing us to use some of thier DIY projects. We were both pretty successful in getting the ok from alot of webmasters, but unfortunately, or efforts were in vain as it never came to be. I have spoken to our Webmaster(Chris Webmaster) and expressed my interest in getting a DIY forum here and he likes the idea but would like to know what you guys think about it. Above is a poll that I would like all who view this thread to vote on. Let's make it happen guys!!
Yeah. Sorry about that. People that could have done it were apparently unable to, and I couldn't do much about it. I'd love to get it going though, sooner or later. Support this, guys

Do you still have all the websites that I got clearance from? I lost them in the mix.

No big deal bro, I just thought I'd give it another shot and so far so good. Hope we get some more support for it.

i am ALL FOR IT!!! When i first came on HAN i was looking around for simple stuff like brakes, oil, rotating tires..etc. Basically noob stuff. But i had to post a thread to get a response. In turn wasting somebody's time to type it out again when they could have simply posted a like to the "disk brake DIY thread", etc!

The reason we need this is because so many parts of the car are VERY similar to all cars. Disk brakes are practically IDENTICLE(spelling)on all modern cars(foreign and domestic), as well as drums. I dont know how universal oil changing is either. We can make a "perfect" DIY once for each of these topics and call it a day, it'll save alot of people alot of time.

I VOTE YES! I can even help if u want, i dont have a digital camera but have a very nice 35mm one. So the best i can do is actually do the DIY's and write them up.

I hear you bro, and you do make a point. However, the biggest difference is that with all the DIY's in one place, people won't waste their time flipping through the various pages of threads in all the other forums trying to find it. Yeah, that's what the search tool is for, but sometimes it will either bring up too many threads that are only brought up because it contains a word that you were searching for in it, or bring up no threads because you aren't wording it correctly. I think it would be nice to have a DIY forum so they are all in the same vicinity which can not only be a reference to those that need it, but also can give other people ideas about things they'd like to do to thier car. So far, it's looking good, keep the support coming.

Yeah, I hope so, I think it will be an asset to alot of people here who like doing things to thier car themselves, like me I don't have the addy's anymore, I tossed them after a while when nothing was happening. If this gets voted in, I will hit up some sites like last time and do it all over again, you in? I think with the people that we have here who support this and are willing to contribute thier knowledge to the forum, we'd be able to post some useful DIY's until getting clearance to post others from other boards. Now I wish I had kept all of that stuff:doh: Did you keep the one's you got, along with the confirmations that you got saying we could use the DIY's from those sites?
