Man, I was all juiced and ready to install my AEM CAI and drain/fill my tranny fluid. Took the wheel off, removed the fender lining, removed the resonator(damn that's a big summamabytch!), got the intake installed w/no problems. Went to drain the tranny, looked at the drain plug and got very:angry: drain plug is 1/2", fill plug is 3/8" :wtf: I calmly put the wheel back on and drove my happy azz over to Kragens to get a 3/8-1/2" adapter for my ratchet, none in stock, Pep Boys, right across the street saved the day:thumbup: And if any of you collect the Hot Wheels 1/18 scale die cast cars, they have a sweet purple 99 Civic Si there, damn things cost $25
But it's pretty
Aight, time to go drain/fill the tranny w/my $17 tranny fluid
**Update** Man oh man. This turned out to be more of a task than I expected. To save you guys the hassle I had to go through I will post a How to on doing this. First I had the problem above, then I couldn't get the fill plug to budge, of course after draining the whole TEASPOON of fluid that was left in there. You read it right, TEASPOON, if even that
h: After panicking, taking a break, I went back out there and gave it another shot and got it. Filled that bad boy up and she's purring like a kitten now
It feels so good doing maintenance like this on ur own car instead of bytching out and paying some grease monkey and insane amout of money to do it. The lowest I heard was $35, but that was at a place that's basically got 5 covered parking spots in the parking lot of a shopping center and charges $6 for an oil change if you provide the oil and filter, $16 if you don't. I did it myself for $17 for the Honda manual tranny fluid, $6 for the fluid pump(makes life so easy) and the 3/8-1/2" adapter ran me like $3, so $25 out of pocket, but next time it'll only run me the cost of the fluid:naughty: Oh yeah, the intake is loud. A bit louder than I thought, but it sounds like it's got more balls compared to just removing the resonator. I haven't really romped on it yet so I can't say if I feel any gains, we'll see in the next couple of days.

So does the tranny still miss in first gear like u said? Or is it really feeling alot better than before?
Yeh..that resonator is a BIG mutha! Waste of space if u ask me!
I bet that AEM CAI sounds nice.
Ne wayz....tell us how much better than tranny runs, lata!
Dave
Man, I still can't believe that my tranny only had maybe a teaspoon of fluid in it, that's just crazy. As for it shuddering in first still, im about to go out right now and go pick up some milk and a sunday paper so I'll let u know if my shuddering problem is still there. Yeah man, it shifts so much smoother now and im so glad I did this, I could have killed my tranny in another month or so. Honda makes some good cars, I have noticed my shuddering problem and how difficult it seemed to get into gears for a while now, Id say the shuddering problem has been going on for a few months, rough shifting has been a problem for longer than that, maybe a year or so
h: I was torturing my car and it still took care of me:thumbup: But I wasn't torturing it on purpose, I was ignorant as to what the cause of the problem was.

Aight ya'll, I just got back from running my errands. No more shuddering first thing in the morning:yay: No more squeaking/squishing sound when pressing the clutch in(this has been an irritation almost since I got the car in August of 2k1), no more forcing it into first gear after coming to a stop, no more forcing it into second when the rpm is over 4k, no more rough shifting(I used to feel alot of resistance when going into gears 1-3, 4 and 5 were fine) and the car runs so much more smoothly now too, besides the suspension squeak I've developed in the last month or so, my car feels like new. No bs, it is very smooth, quiet, and doesn't seem(or sound) like it works hard to get going now. Now I just need to make sure to take care of the squeaking in my suspension when I get my AGX, hopefully in the next month or so, get it painted and she should look and feel like new again:thumbup:
excellent! honda pulls through again! Yeh..u were torturing her bad! But yes..u were ignorant to the actuall cause..most people neglect their cars unpurpose..i HATE that! But its not my car!
And just to help ya out, i suggest you check your oil level in ur MT again in about a month. See if its dropped. The reason it was empty maybe due to a leak of some sort. Did u check all the seals around the tranny case? You can usually tell if something is leaking...cuz if its not...its completely clean everywhere you look(like my car..HAHAH). I dont know about manual trannys, but do they have a dipstick? If so it'll be easy to check, if not...maybe you should just pay attention to the gears, if they start acting up again...you'll KNOW what the problem is!
Agian..congrats..u have a NEW honda!

Man, it's like driving a new car, so smooth, it just runs so much better, I have had to look at the tach a couple times to make sure the thing is still running. Maintenance is a wonderful thing, especially when you do it yourself
