Default getting *INTIMATE* with my car this weekend

Camshaft (timing) Belt (60k miles overdue)
Balancer Belt (60k miles overdue)
Water Pump (might as well while I'm down there)
CV Joints (started clicking 2 weeks ago)
Suspension Coil Springs (H&R OE Sports to replace Eibach Sportline)
Clean the EGR Passages (hopefully this will turn off my *check engine* light that's been on for the last 50 - 60k miles)
Clean K&N Air Filter
Replace AC/Alt & Power Steering Belt
Oil/Filter Change

I think that's about it. I'm up to 164k miles on the whip now. The timing belts were suppossed to be changed at 105k, but I couldn't afford the Honda Scheduled Servicing charge of $300+. So I've been on borrowed time since then. But just recently, I have started to feel some weird "timing" stuff like the car lunging after I let up off the gas in 1st or 2nd gear. Just doesn't feel like the gears are all in sync. Don't think it's the clutch.

Anything else I should maybe do while I'm getting "intimate" with my car this weekend?

check the basics stuff. distributor cap, rotor, plugs, wires. when you get a chance get it compression tested. www.accordstore.com Thank God you borrowed time paid off. that is a lot to do.

check the tranny fluid too... and let us know how the tail-pipe feels, since you're getting "intimate".

will a lack of sufficient amount of tranny fluid have anything to do w/the slight shudder I feel sometimes when acellerating out of first gear?

yeh..but there's just so much that an accord can take..its not invincible. If u want your accord to last 300k miles plus. You'll take care of it :-)

I take care of mine religiously!

I try to; but it's so expensive for 17 year old who barely works more than 12 hours a week. So far I've got everything pretty good. Got the free recall for the oil shaft balancer seal (today's the last day), oil change, new brake rotors all around and new pads go in on Thurs; along with a new upper front engine mount. Just need to do some stuff w/ CV boots Left Outer, Right Inner - Leaking; but not clicking yet *knock on wood* and then get my timing belt/water pump replaced and I'll be good. Costs so much money to keep it well.

i understand...its hard to find $500 to do the timing belt change..but thats the only big thing that i recommend you pay someone else to do, other than those cv joints/boots. Other things oil/fluids/brakes/gaskets/ets you can do yourself and save tons of cash.

Why did u need to get a new engine mount? And when u get timing belt change....u get your balancer belt/water pump/cam shaft seals/valve cover gasket/valve clearance adjustment done. Its kinda of a "all in one" repair that will last ya another 90-100k.

I always keep about 200-300 bucks saved for an emergency with the car, but i highly doubt an emergency with my honda. No problems whatsoever. I'm at 93k and mine's a 96.

Do you do ur cv joints/boots your self? If so, good for you...being a 17 year old and knowing alot about cars helps ya out in life alot.
