Default swap labor charge question

my brother hydrolocked our 94 accord and screwed it over pretty bad. Our only option is to put a new engine in it. We've called two shops in our area, one is a very well respected import shop and the other is a regular shop that installs new engines in cars. We asked them about puttin an h22 in the car and they both said that would be about 8 grand. Now i know you can get an h22 for aournd 2500, so that would mean labor charges would be about 5500??? How the hell can that be right?? I know its not a complicated swap and if i had time i'd do it myself, any idea where this 8 grand bull**** is comin from?

oh hell no, there is no way in hell i'm payin that price to have that swap done, they can stick that 8 grand price up their ass and chew on it. Of the guys who have had the swap and PAID to have it done ( i know a bunch of you guys are gunna say oh just do it yourself, but i'm telling you right now, it is not possible, no matter what) how much did you guys pay?

that seems awfully high to me. Here are some of the extra things you'll need for an h22 into and accord. the VTEC needs to be wired up if if doesn't have any. also, is your car automatic? switching an Accord to manual is a costly procedure, unless you find junked parts, which those shops probablly wouldn't do. I also thing the shift linkage needs to be modified slightly, and you need to swap the axle hubs with the accords axles...

To install the motor labor alone ranges between $700-1,200 (CA seems to be cheapest and NYC is most $$$) depending on where you live. Maintenance parts and clutch your looking at $600-$700.

I paid $900 for the motor install and $400 for the auto-manual labor.

well the bullsh!t they fed us was that the sensors all needed to be modified to fit my car, but if the place i'm getting the engine from replaces all the sensors and knows i'm putting it in an accord, i dont think that quite adds up

not sure if yall have heard of the shop but is Inline Pro, i've seen on ESPN and sh!t, and i know some of the guys who work there so its kinda fuked up that they're gunna charge me that much, but they are the only import shop i trust in my area

my dad got a quote from a regular engine swap to put another LX engine (F22) in it that is from japan for 3 grand (including engine) Now my question here is i thought all JDM engines were RHD and it costs a whole hell of a lot to convert them to LHD, anyone have a jdm engine that can shed some light?

LHD and RHD doesn't affect the engine. The "hard" part of a swap (notice the "") is the wiring, which might be a little tricky. And thats not hard...
