Default question:

I am interested in lowering my accord my car has about167,000 miles on it should I use the stock shocks or shell out the money to get new shocks. And if I get the new shocks about how much should it cost to get the shocks, and lower my car. (I'm a college student without a lot of money so I'm not sure if I can afford both ) Thanks ahead for the info.

You should definitely get shocks for safety and if you use the stock ones and they blow then you will be without a car for a while... 4 Good shocks is like 250 bucks, 4 good springs is like 200 bucks. Installation varies, but you *can* do it yourself.

Hey....Definetly get shocks and springs at the same time...I advise to do it all at one time too.....I have a 1996 Accord and the dumbass I was just put springs on there...it was a horrible ride so I switch to AIR RIDE Suspension which was just as bad! I wasted my money and now my suspension is wrecked for life. But I put H&R springs with KYB Gas shocks. So far it is a really good ride. I say buy the springs and buy the shocks and wait tell you can get them on at one time.......

by the way I have a '94 accord with stock rims, should I wait to buy the rims before I lower my car, or would it be ok if I lowered my car and then buy my rims? thanks for the feedback

Go for a drop first, then wheels.
I have H&R Sports...I like them.

I say DONT GO WITH PROGRESS. A popular company is Eibach.I personally never had there springs but I heard they have a really bouncy ride and are poor quality. But maybe not. My set up cost about 200 for springs and 200 something for the shocks. So just around 400 for the set-up. You can definetly put the wheels on later. That is what I am doing(except I have the 98-02 accord wheels on) But still basically stock. You would get a better clearence with rims...But not much of a difference. In my personal taste I say go with 1.5-1.9 inches or try to stay in the one inch area. I have a pic of my car if you want to see what it is like lowered........Just send a Emial Puffy21788@aol.com

somewhere between 450-500 is a good estimate, but don't forget you'll probably need a front camber kit which is about 100 bucks, then after you put it in you'll need an alignment ~50-100 bucks.

so i'd say have 600-700 bucks on hand before you start the suspension project
