Default Lugnut Torqing.

Someone correct me if im wrong. I wanted to make sure that Accords' lugnuts should be torqued to 80ft/lbs rite?

Does it hurt the car to tighten them more than that? How can you tell how much if so, when using a wrench.

OH yea, it will hurt your car. Overtorqing the lugnuts will warp your rotors pretty darn fast. You use a torque-wrench to tighten those things. You can buy them just about anywhere for about 10-20 dollars. Good investment in the long run. Many uses too....like oil drain plug should be torqued at 33ft/lbs.

ANyways, does anyone know if im correct about the 80ft/lb theory?? Thanks.

Yep, good investment for sure...but I'd recommend forking out more cash for a better one, I love the Craftsman Digi-torque I got. ~$80 I think.

If I don't have a gun is there any reference...I know its hard to explain though... but like just as hard as my hands can do it, stand, or jump. How much would it cost to get a shop to do it. Do you think this hurt my car?

I got one from sears for around $40 I think. It's not the best one made by any means, but it gives me a good idea if they are too tight or too loose for that matter. The snap on one is supposed to be the best, but it's a couple hundred dollars if I remember correctly. If you are getting on for general use, the craftsman should be just fine.

You are over-torquing.
You have to give it some muscle to get it to 80lbs, but it clicks well before you reach your max strength. Unless you're using a small wrench I guess.
You might have a cool guy at a shop that'll just do it for free. Try Discount Tire if there's one around, or go buy a torque wrench.

Clicking? When I did mine I never heard a clicking but maybe when I jumped on it... the jumping sound muffled the clicking lol. I think I will try to get a shop to do it for free for me... otherwise stand on them because I never heard a clicking doing that.
