You are over-torquing.
You have to give it some muscle to get it to 80lbs, but it clicks well before you reach your max strength. Unless you're using a small wrench I guess.
You might have a cool guy at a shop that'll just do it for free. Try Discount Tire if there's one around, or go buy a torque wrench.
