just got a 96 accord
My g/f just bought a 96 Accord 4dr 4cyl and I was wondering what kind of mods are good for it and what are some of the things to look out for? I mean I know general things so I guess what I really want is to learn all I can about her car. As far as mods go I know general things like cold air kits,exhaust,wheels,etc. just wondering what works the best. I don't want her blowing money on things that arent gonna do diddly squat for her
Also, what are some of the places to get this stuff from? I have been to theaccordstore.com and overboost.com , any other good places to shop?
I drive a 97 Z28 so I dont know a whole lot about these cars so any info you can give me will be helpful and appreciated

AEM makes the best cold air intake for her car... it runs about 200 shipped on ebay. www.aempower.com
Exhaust = About 10 HP = $600
Intake = About 10 HP = $200
Headers = About 5 HP = $250
Lowering and Rims are definitely the best mod for looks... But also the most expensive...
A good set of rims will cost about $1000. And a good lowering professionally installed will be about $600, you have to buy the springs and the shocks... and a camber kit is best as well.
Also, for looks, check out clear corners, bumper lights, etc. She might like how altezzas look also.

just make her ride "look" good. slap on some springs and some clears, and she's good to go. btw, it shouldnt cost more than $200 to lower her car. you wont need shocks unless your're going with a really low spring (eibach sportline, neuspeed race), and u wont really need a camber kit if you rotate your tires really often.
Thanks for the replies! I think I am going to get her some clear corners and Altezzas for x-mas or a spoiler since I know she wants them. I saw the factory painted spoilers on theaccordstore.com for what seemed like a reasonable price, $329 for her car.She's not REALLY concerned about power so it'll prolly be wheels and springs later on. Thanks again!

who cares about flywheel horsepower? it only matters if its making it to the ground. EliteAccord's hp estimates are correct
does she want it to be fast? look good? handle good? all of the above? how much money are we talkin about spending?
and a little off-topic - you ever run your Z28 in the quarter mile? what are your times? hp? ft/lbs?
Well I know that ground is what matters but it is easier to compare cars by at the flywheel because that is what manufacturers of cars uses... and I was simply stating that I was using at the flywheel which is why they seemed off... besides the fact that I have seen plenty of dynos in which the inkate added almost 20 hp at the ground. And BTW, plenty of people make legal altezzas, even tyc...

some altezzas are legal. but 99% of them are illegal. all the ones that have the circles on them are illegal. which i think is all altezzas. so i think all of them are illegal. but who cares this isnt a debate about whats legal or not. if the guy wants to get them then fine. just check the box and see if theyre DOT approved if you care if theyre legal or not
