Yes a twin cammer is better suited to go all motor, but that's not what we have here. SOmetimes its just more fun and $$$ to do something different. I would consider building up my F22, just for the simple fact that I have put on almost every mile on the motor and know all the maintainence that has gone into it and would rather spend the money of a swap and get a motor that has maxed out its performance, just for the sake of saying my motor has maxed out.
Nobody thinks an F22/23 is gonna take out a comprably workd H22 or B-series, but it sure would be fun to try.

I'm Glad to see the little F-series has some type of fan base
The H -series makes a great N/A race motor.
a. for its awesome bore/stroke ratio
b. the oiling system is well engineered for hard track use
The F -series reasons for why it currently sucks.
a. it can have the same bore a H--but the F stroke is massive long in comparison,(especially on the the 2.3liter version)
b. the head needs some work over to start to flow.
c. no superior prelude oil system to save a romped on bottom end. (F22 with F23 bored out pistons would be more inline with an H23 in bore/stroke--so in this regard we are getting better.)
For a race motor a. and c. really can't be easily overcome. B. isn't too much of a challenge. However, on a street motor which realistically shouldn't see much more abuse then what many see currently. Building an F for the street should be a real fun thing to do IMO. And if you've prepped the block well to handle street abuse those same measures should really make it a nice block for Nitrous aswell. Another reasons for building an F is cheap block sourcing. F's are like dirty underwear--everybody has some sitting in the corner.
Basically I just want to build an F-because I love my Cord and I love the little 'F 'cause it gets no love. Not to mention the amount of flaming that will come one day when some loudmouth posts a fully build F-series that has average power. I guess the main motto is different strokes for different folks--get it--its a pun

im building a F right now i had it bored .030 over and im running JE pistons lowered comp. to 8:0:1 and Crower pro billet steel rods i have all that installed right now, im waiting for my head to get back from the machine shop i port mached it and had a lil work done nothing too extreme im running a turbo and will let you know how it turns out.
Stick with the f series if thats what you want. Dont worry about trying to beat swapped hatches and all that boolshet. Its all about having fun, it isnt worth it worrying about trying to beat the next guy. Theres always gonna be someone faster than you. Just have fun with the single cam and dont let anyone spoil your fun.
Im starting to see some growing intrests toward the f series ever since Bisi built one for his crx. Its cutting flat 10.0's consitently and next season it looks to be more promsing. He's coming with a full aray of stuff for the f series. Mike aka Kteller8 also has some goodies for the f series, hit him up or check out his site. I wont be surprised when we start seeing f series giving the twin cam peeps a run for their money.

accordturbo who sold his car to boostedaccord had a fully built sohc f22b1 w/ the cryogenated tranny. it was built to run 20+ psi . boostedaccord was making something like 275whp before the shop he was dyno tuning at blew his motor. accordfreak is making almost the same #'s w/ an internally stock sohc f22b1.
I have seriously thought about it also and compared the prices to the H22. The F22 I would definetly save money just building it then swapping the H22 in. But ever since I took a fully built N/A h22 13 second accord for a spin my mind is set on the H22. You just cant beat it.
Heres the list if I did though:
HONDA 2.2(F22)PISTON:85mm/11:1 - $399
CRWR BILLET ROD:F22 - $665
DARTON MID SLEEVE KIT:F22/85mm- $599
Head??? I have no idea, I do remember a site a couple months ago selling head packages that was not GUDE.
I would say for cams, retainers, valvesprings, cam gears, P&P give it around 1500-2000 bucks?
So I would say around 3100-3600 with no labor.
Not bad but you would still need a chip set-up, fuel set-up, and labor. Still would be a fun project though. Good luck!
