I was wondering if this was expensive or hard to do. I am not talking about cheap stuff (blue bulbs), but the real deal. I noticed my friends 05 maxima had them and they seem to look nice. right now my 04 accord ex is completely stock.

NO, do not listen to tedmond. by just buying an HID kit and installing it w/o a retrofit, you end up with a lot of glare. glare=blinding other drivers AND loss of light to the road. although, since you're going from dull halogens to xenon/HID, you won't notice too much, but blinding other drivers is a biggie.

if you want to do it, get projectors from ebay (or junkyard or something). TSX's are the ones people are most ga-ga over, but any will do, doesnt even have to be honda. then pick up either an aftermarket HID Kit, or if you can get a hold of one, the OEM ballast and bulbs. price-wise, I picked up the projectors and bulbs for right about $225 for it all, I got some discounts because of friends, only saved me $25-50 though, shouldn't cost you more than $300 for it all. I also recommend getting a second set of headlights so A) the car can be drivable while you do this mod, and B) so when you go to sell the car, if you do, you can take your HID kit with you to your next car.

join http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/ and/or http://forums.torontoaccords.com/index.php the latter has lots of info on HID's for the 5G accord, infact the founder has a set on his car and has been coaching me via PM.

here is a good comparison of doing retrofit projectors compared to just putting in an HID kit:

more glare doesn't equal more light. notice how much more light is hitting the road, as well as the clear cut off line.

this is what they look like with the retrofit (not my car, EXRcoupe's):

You do not need to go and spend hundreds on a "projector" retrofit...
Everyone on this site OBSESSES with the fact that HID systems MUST be projector. This is wrong.
There ARE cars that do use HID Reflector systems, although technically they are made for HID light output.

Namely:
Acura TL (older models, 99-00 etc)
Cadillac Escalade
Infiniti QX4
Etc.

Why not compare the light output of one of the cars listed with the light output from a DIY reflector-HID system and post the images?
Like this guy:

Bottom line is you do not need to retrofit HID projectors.

there I fixed yours.

in all cases a projector is required with HID's if you plan on not blinding people. most headlights are made to have a low and high setting (the accord is no different) that when the wattage is increased (from 45 low to 65 high) it lights up more of the headlight assembly. with an HID kit you will ALWAYS be lighting up the high beams area blinding everyone.

and if you don't see a difference in the link that you listed, you must be blind. the first image (w/o the projectors) is so random light pattern and yes the center is super bright, but its not very even. the second picture, the one WITH the projector is a very even light flow and a clear cut off (meaning no blinding other people).

I say once again, the only real way to install HID's, and not blind people, is with projectors (mainly factory projectors) and the best temperature of bulb to get is 4300k, 6000k is acceptable but anything beyond 6000 and you're losing light, anything under 4300k is a more yellow ting and again, you lose light.

there is a site you can get some pretty decent HID's from called "velocitygetter.com" they sell a very nice kit for watever kind of car you have. and you can select from 6000 up to 12000k bulbs. the higher the number the deeper the color, but i wouldnt do more than 8000 or 10000k.

that can't be very good...6000k is pushing the light limit, anything above that is just showy blue, you lose a lot of light. 12000k is pure show, it is so purple/pink that hardly any light is really hitting the road. not to mention that most places have laws against blue/pink lights, some times the cops are lacks about it, others you will get slapped hard with a fix it ticket.

thats not to say that you can't retro and use a HID kit, just don't be rice and put HID's in stock housing w/o projectors.

the 04 accord's stock does not have a good enough design to just slap a kit into.

sure its cheap, but you'll annoy anyone driving in front of you.
