doesnt the 04 come with a 6cd changer? if so the dash kit can be purchased, but its expensive to be honest. If anything - as you mentioned use the lower compartment and fiberglass it. it will fit perfectly, as i have designed an enclosure for that compartment befor. The only thing is, you will need to re route your radio wires. other than that its easy to do.

Metra just released a new kit this year. I just saw it in the latest 12VoltNews. Looks pretty sick, no price though.

I know that this is an old thread, but I didn't want to start a new one that relates to this one.

I found a good price on the part to make a double din fit into the lower pocket area on '03 - '07 Accords. It will save a lot of headaches, and time.

It is the part that Honda uses with the add-ons like the MP3 player, add on XM, DVD/rear entertainment systems, etc.

P/N 08B06-SDA-101A

You can view instructions on how it pieces together by clicking on the "View Installation Instructions" hyperlinks for the audio system add ons on this page.

The aftermarket double dins will not be wide enough to mount up against the side brackets. To take up the space inbetween the radio and brackets, you can stack the appropriate amount of washers, or maybe even find the right length spacers. But, after measuring carefully (most double dins use very shallow mounting screws - as to not go too far into the inside of the plate because of possible damage), most hardware stores will have the machine thread screws needed.

As with any aftermarket deck installed with the single din dash kits for the lowerdash, you will need the "T harness" or can make a "T harness", for the illumination of the HVAC controls. Most Best Buys and other car stereo shops have the reverse harness that plugs into the factory plug in, so you can make your own T harness.

If any assistance is needed, feel free to contact me. I was an installer for 12 years until this past April. But I have seen quite a few others on this forum that have the know-how as well.

I hope this is helpfull to somebody.

Oh yeah. Another thing I have done with this as well, is still made use of the factory radio/disc changer/XM to work with the added on aftermarket deck. Using a reverse harness I attached a line level adapter connected to the factory's front speaker outputs. Then used a RCA cable, I connected the RCA output to the Auxilary input on the aftermarket deck. Just keep the factory deck's volume at about 20 or so, and control the discs from it, go to the Aux input source on the aftermarket and control your main volume there.
It isn't necessary, but added a cool factor to an otherwise useless piece of electronics.
