Is an H22a worth it.....
Looks like someone who used to be automatic and is now H22 and 5sp should answer this question.
1. 5sp kicks major ass and it'll run you an extra $1,300 in parts and labor.
2. Do not use the accord auto or 5sp tranny. The gearing sucks on the 5sp accord for the H22, it'll be worse with auto and it won't hold up.
3. Only swap unless your motor or tranny is junk.
4. The JDMH22s came with automatics. The swaps are cheaper than 5sp swaps and the automatics are much better than the crappy Sport shift tranny.
5. The fastest 1/4 mile for an auto JDM H22 in a 94 EX 4 door was a 15.1 with basic bolt-ons. A 5sp with practice should be a high 14 second car.
6. Nobody has swapped the SS tranny from the 97+ ludes as far as I know and I wouldn't even try it since they are crap.
7. Did I mention 5sp kicks ass.

That's just my opinion. When I originally done my swap, I thought the car was going to be so much faster.....man was that a disappointment. The car still felt heavy and it didn't feel as fast as some of the GSR's and Civic Hybrids I've driven. I did feel a little more torque and I do have to admit that it feels good popping my hood and having all those other hybrid guys drool but its just not worth all that money. I'm sure people have different opinions from me who have done the swap.

I swapped my '90 auto-->manual. 5-Speed Rules! It was relatively simple and inexpensive and makes the car a HELL of a lot more fun to drive and faster. That was two years ago... I was waiting for my second car before tearing the engine out and going H22 + Tranny. This should be fun...

How else can you justify it? $2,000 for a rebuild just to have it fail again cause nobody can seem to rebuild a Honda tranny properly. Then have them not warranty it cause your car is modded.
Otherwise if your motor is junk or you got high miles is another good reason to swap. If you got under 100k and the car is running fine I wouldn't do a swap. I'd sell it for something faster. Once your tranny starts slipping or you got over 100K you can't sell/trade the car for a fair price so you make the best of it.
