Default heater control valve not moving

My heater control valve on the hose leading to the heater core isn't moving when I turn the temp dial. I can move it with my hand and I have hot heat. If I unhook the cable from the valve it still won't move so it's not a sticky valve. Any ideas what the issue might be? The flaps in the climate control box don't seem to be working right because I can't always get the air to flow to the proper vent when I press the buttons, don't know if this will have any bearing on the diagnosis. Thanks a lot.

You'll probably have to take the dash apart. Check hondaautomotiveparts.com for some drawings of the heater controls & heater distribution box. But I think those pictures aren't real helpful until you get it apart.

I think there's one cable going from the control lever to a hot/cold mixing door lever. From there, a 2nd cable goes out to the valve. So there's a couple places where either cable might be disconnected.

This hot/cold mixing door is not the same as the air direction dampers which direct the air to the dash/defrost/floor/etc.

Thanks for the help. I pulled the bezel out and found that the cable leading from the temp switch to the heater control valve was off of it's peg. That's why I thought the temp dial must have been an electrical switch, because there was no resistance against it. Once reconnected, I could tell that the heater control valve was too tight, so I'm going to replace it. Thanks for the help.
