Thanks for the help. I pulled the bezel out and found that the cable leading from the temp switch to the heater control valve was off of it's peg. That's why I thought the temp dial must have been an electrical switch, because there was no resistance against it. Once reconnected, I could tell that the heater control valve was too tight, so I'm going to replace it. Thanks for the help.
